The Vice President of Finance supervises the operations of the Business Office at Notre Dame High School. This supervision primarily includes budgeting, financial reporting, cash and investments, debt, payroll, supervising funding for human resource benefits, financial aid, enrollment/tuition management, purchasing and receipts, cafeteria operations, and other vendor contracts. The Vice President of Finance reports to the President and is part of the school administrative team. The position works with the Human Resources and Wellness Director on HR benefits and with the President and the designated administration, to strategically allocate and steward the school’s resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees all student receivables, accounts payable, school purchasing, financial investments, banking activities, extracurricular and summer accounts, and all payroll and benefits programs.
  • Prepares annual operating budget for submission through President to the Board of Directors, oversees control of budget upon its approval by the board, including collection, custody, investment disbursement,accounting, and auditing of all School funds.
  • Provides monthly report of expenditures for use by individual budget managers within the school; prepares monthly operating statements for use by the President and the Board of Directors.
  • Attends meetings and presents financial information to the Finance Committee and Board.
  • Secures and oversees annual audit of the school’s financial records.
  • Formulates, investigates, and recommends policies and programs to establish and improve long-range financial objectives; researches and recommends allocation of resources to achieve financial and fiscal stability.
  • Oversees recruitment, supervision, and training of Business Office support staff including accounting and payroll staff.
  • Ensures effective management of the food service operations, and any other auxiliary enterprises of the school.
  • Manages risk to ensure the safety of the personnel and students, in their use of facilities; ensures and maintains levels of insurance to protect the property and liability of the school.
  • Oversees the schools transportation services and vehicles
  • Plans and monitors short and long-term construction, renovation and maintenance projects; formulates and recommends policies and programs to establish and improve both deferred and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Tracks endowment fund balances and reconciles endowment grants.
  • Administers student financial aid and enrollment in cooperation with school administration.
  • Prepares tax and regulatory reports, corporate reports, files California quarterly sales tax reports and files tax
  • exemption documents.
  • Works with Human Resources and Wellness Director on supervising staff benefit programs, with the President on enrollment, costs, and administration and oversees the school’s healthcare insurance plan, retirement and benefit plans.
  • Represents NDHS on the CAPS-SIG Board (Workers Compensation Fund Representative) and supervises the school workers compensation program, including the annual payroll audit.
  • Seek and attend professional development opportunities to stay updated on finance trends.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the President in order to achieve and accomplish the schools Mission and objectives

Working Conditions

Work is performed typically in an office environment and involves frequent use of a computer and telephones. Will drive to perform work with donors in the community. May require occasional travel out-of-town.

Wage Range

The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range.
