GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Health and Safety (H&S) function contributes to the success of EDP Renewables NA (EDPR) by ensuring regulatory compliance and implementing a proactive approach towards worker safety across multiple locations. The H&S Analyst will support the EDPR goal to develop and implement H&S management processes and drive continuous improvement across all business lines.

Main accountabilities:

  • Be an advocate for H&S, driving a strong and committed safety culture throughout the organization
  • Monitor and audit regulatory compliance and H&S processes at assigned construction and operating sites
  • Assist field teams (operations and construction) to identify key H&S hazards and provide recommendations to eliminate or reduce them
  • Establish measureable H&S benchmarks for assigned construction and operating sites
  • Assist with quantitative and qualitative root cause analyses; demonstrating a strong drive to troubleshoot problems and design solutions
  • Assist in maintaining EDPR H&S procedures
  • Assist with development and delivery of H&S training programs, including those designed to meet OSHA, State, and EDPR requirements
  • Assist in reviewing H&S requirements for contractors and suppliers
  • Review and approve H&S related Corrective and Preventative Action Requests to maintain ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001certifications
  • Perform at a fast pace, with self-motivation and strong initiative
  • Additional duties as required

Travel: 30%

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 2 – 5 years of Health & Safety experience in power, construction or a related industry
  • OSHA training (30-hour preferred)
  • Experience in tower climbing/rescue
  • Experience and/or knowledge of HV electrical
  • Experience with cranes & rigging
  • Experience with heavy equipment and trucking
  • Experience and/or knowledge of excavation and trenching
  • Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products. (Preferred)
  • Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise. (Preferred).

Physical demands & working conditions:

  • Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to frequently perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching approximately 75% of the time while on wind farm sites. Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment.
  • Walking: Ability to walk .25 to .5 miles per day, including across unpaved and rough surfaces when on wind farm sites
  • Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
  • Vision/Hearing: Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
  • Hearing: Ability to interpret and follow
  • Climbing:
  • Ability to climb turbine towers
  • Weight, including harness and tools, must be in accordance with the weight limit as specified by the ANSI Fall Protection Standards a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Lifting: Ability to frequently lift items weighing up to 20 pounds and to occasionally lift items weighing between 20 and 40 pounds
  • Tolerance to Extreme Weather Conditions: Ability to work in adverse weather conditions 25% of the time while on wind farm sites
