The Global Service Support Organization (GSS) team headquartered in Milpitas, CA is our service organization that consists of Service Sales and Marketing, Spares Supply Chain management, Field Operations, Engineering, Product Training, and Technical Support. The GSS organization partners with our field teams and customers in all business sectors to maintain the high performance and productivity of our products through a flexible portfolio of services. Our comprehensive services include: proactive management of tools to identify and improve performance; expertise in optics, image processing and motion control with worldwide service engineers, 24/7 technical support teams and knowledge management systems; and an extensive parts network to ensure worldwide availability of parts.

  • KLA is seeking a talented and motivated individual for an internship position, working within the NPI team in Product Support Organization
  • The job function would be to study critical high precision electromechanical subsystems such as high precision Wafer handling Stage, Robot and associated sub-assemblies. Assess failure modes under designed use case and identify potential failure modes and design improvement opportunities for sub components.
  • Analyze current Preventive Maintenance sequence and propose a more efficient operation for streamlining PM kits, PM tasks and Python scripts for reducing PM Cycle time.
  • Successful candidate will obtain hands on experience with robotic sub-systems while working in Engineering lab. 
  • The opportunity to gain visibility by successfully completing the project and presenting analysis and recommendations to senior management.
  • Candidate will get exposure to: Semiconductor industry, robotics, control systems, software development, and working with cross functional teams in a fast paced environment


  • Pursuing BS or MS degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, EECS, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Relevant classes: Operation’s research, Process Optimization, Reliability, Design of Experiments (DOE), Mechanical Vibrations, Failure Analysis, Control systems design
  • Relevant experience (project/internships): feedback loops, control systems, self-driving or automation, motor, and encoders
  • Basic experience with one of the following programming languages required (C, C++, python).

Bachelors of Arts or Science (Bachelors), Bachelors of Arts or Science (Bachelors) - Industrial Engineering

Minimum Qualifications

  • Seniors pursuing Bachelors degree in Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics
  • Lab work with some exposure to motors encoders
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Hands-on experience with Control Systems
  • Must be self-driven, and a strong team player.
