Associate Director - Clinical Research Operations

The Clinical Research Support Office (CRSO) Associate Director (AD) for Clinical Research Operations serves in a key strategic role with regard to clinical research operations and best practices for human subjects research across the School of Medicine (SOM). The AD reports directly to the CRSO Co- Director and works closely with other members of CRSO leadership, including evaluation, data services, compliance, research development and finance, and clinical research accountability unit operations. The AD will develop and implement strategic plans and goals for the department, serve as a central repository of information related to research in the department, with a focus on facilitating research efforts. The AD promotes successful coordination and execution of initiatives of the CRSO, ensuring quality cross-functional coordination of activities. In this role, the AD will also collaborate routinely with offices such as NC TraCS, OHRE, OCT, OVCR, ORSC and the SOM FBO to understand processes, needs, and limitations to ensure that products and initiatives of the CRSO are appropriate and well-vetted.  The AD will also serve as subject matter expert and liaison between the CRSO and faculty investigators and clinical research support staff across the SOM to understand processes (including, but not limited to: regulatory operations, research compliance, documentation, financial management, staffing, and personnel management), identify strengths and opportunities, and effectively address gaps.
