Allied Universal® Janitorial Services, an Allied Universal® Company, is hiring a Regional Human Resources Manager. The Regional Human Resources Manager is responsible for assisting in the managing and executing of all Janitorial Services Human Resources functions, including creating, managing, tracking, processing, and continuously improving the HR function, planning, and execution of all HR functions in multiple regions. This position supports multiple locations across the United States. The Regional Manager, Human Resources also manages recruitment for multiple offices and business operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with operations team to respond to union concerns in a timely manner, including managing the grievance process and ensuring compliance with applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements for unionized work sites
  • Oversight of the human resources functions at the local office; support the professional development, coach, mentor, guide, and direct junior employees involved in the selection and placement process
  • Monitor non-billed overtime (NBOT); manage recruiters in finding proactive solutions in staffing positions
  • Monitor and assure compliance in hiring practices, personnel documentation, and other compliance items (e.g., licensing, performance evaluations, Last Day Worked report, etc.)
  • Investigation of, response to, and documentation of employee complaints, including potential legal issues, EEOC charges, and focus groups
  • Guide, coach, and train account managers and supervisors in employee relations, positive employment practices, and avoidance of legal issues
  • Monitor of employee terminations, assessment of documentation supporting terminations, and responses to the Department of Labor for unemployment claims
  • Participate in employee retention and human capital management activities
  • Oversee employee relations and claims management activities throughout the designated area, assuring that investigations are handled and documented appropriate to negating a lawsuit
  • Support the Regional Human Resources Director and Legal team on sensitive investigations
  • Assure compliance with programs are being appropriately administered regarding licensing, I-9s, leaves of absences, vacations, personnel file maintenance, status changes, performance evaluations, terminations, etc.
  • Develop, in conjunction with Branch Manager/ General Manager and HR Director, plans to reduce overtime and turnover
  • Take a leadership role in the development of managers through training on labor law, expense reimbursement processes, and skills, guide managers with the development programs for managers with performance issues
  • Improve work environment and employee relations through effective customer service and various measures, including complaint investigation, grievance resolution, focus groups, etc., as appropriate to the situation and the Concern Resolution Policy
  • Ensure that corporate policies are appropriately enforced and implemented
  • Ensure appropriate information is communicated with and to the Managers and the Regional HR Director
  • Travel regularly throughout designated area to interact with and gain confidence of district support and operations personnel, and to investigate particularly serious allegations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess one or more of the following:
  • Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field of study with a minimum of two (2) years of Human Resources experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum four (4) years of Human Resources experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of Human Resources experience
  • Proven experience working with and navigating complex union and labor relations issues
  • Experience and aptitude to maintain large volumes of information in a highly organized and efficient manner, keeping excellent records, and demonstrated ability to speak knowledgably in detail on current and prior projects in a timely manner when needed
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in both English and Spanish languages fluently
  • Working knowledge of employment laws at the state and federal level
  • Highly organized with the ability to track, audit, report on and present data, material, statuses, and projects in a confident, accurate and efficient manner
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others within an organization, peer to peer and with more senior leaders, including the ability to lead and manage the work of others (non-direct reports) in support of project goals, to ensure timelines are met and objective are achieved
  • Working knowledge of HRIS and payroll systems, employee data management, and experience managing employee data, including effective audit procedures and report writing/analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to be very customer-service oriented and interact with all levels of individuals in a courteous and professional manner at all times
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines
  • Able to demonstrate professionalism, be articulate, and able to use good independent judgment and discretion
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to create effective written materials, including presentations, and the ability to effectively convey significant changes to employees in a positive and effective manner

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or higher Certification
  • Experience working in multi-state operations in the service industry and/or organizations with high-volume, entry-level hourly workforce
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions (due diligence through acquisition planning and integration)
  • Experience processing acquisition related retention and separation agreements, including calculating severance payments
  • Experience working with highly sensitive proprietary information

BENEFITS:

  • Pay: $68,000 - $75,000 per year plus bonus
  • Medical, dental, vision, basic life, AD&D, and disability insurance
  • Enrollment in our company’s 401(k)plan, subject to eligibility requirements
  • Eight paid holidays annually, five sick days, and four personal days
  • Vacation time offered at an accrual rate of 3.08 hours biweekly. Unused vacation is only paid out where required by law.
