UW Medical Center has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Administrator. The Assistant Administrator of the Center for Clinical Excellence (CCE) is a proven leader in all aspects of healthcare quality improvement. Under the direction of the Associate Administrator for Patient Safety & Value, this person is responsible for interpreting and communicating organizational improvement priorities and strategies in the areas of quality, safety, and clinical analytics across both campuses of the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC). Additionally, this person collaborates and consults with faculty, nursing, senior executives and staff to improve patient outcomes and value, and to develop continuous quality improvement programs. The person in this position works to recruit and retain exceptional leaders in quality improvement, clinical documentation improvement, clinical analytics, patient safety, infection prevention, regulatory compliance and patient experience and provides guidance and expertise necessary for these teams to thrive in a collaborative environment.
Provides leadership and oversight for the University of Washington’s (UWMC) Center for Clinical Excellence whose core purpose is to be the catalyst for advancing world-class quality, safety, and service at the University of Washington Medical Center. Ensures that the quality focus for UWMC is aligned with internal and external priorities and requirements and interprets and communicates the organization improvement priorities and strategies.
Responsible for the strategic and operational direction of the Center for Clinical Excellence (CCE). Recruits and retains managers for quality improvement, clinical documentation improvement, patient safety, clinical analytics, infection prevention and patient experience that support the core purpose of the Center for Clinical Excellence. Supports career development through ongoing education and mentoring. Provides regular feedback to and works closely with managers to ensure that teams within the CCE are working collaboratively and effectively across UWMC and UW Medicine.
Promotes and supports multidisciplinary process improvements as they relate to clinical aspects of patient safety, infection prevention, patient satisfaction, data-driven decision making, and patient care documentation. Creates and fosters opportunities for cross disciplinary and cross department learning and integration. Seeks to identify best practices both internally and externally.
Stays abreast of and anticipates future performance improvement needs and healthcare regulatory requirements, makes recommendations to the UWMC Executive team about strategies and approaches. Ensures quality improvement activities are aligned across the entity and across UW Medicine. Collaborates with and participates in external organizations to improve the health of the public by participating in national quality initiatives.
Serves as the entity expert on internal and external regulatory requirements for quality improvement, patient safety, infection prevention, clinical analytics, clinical documentation improvement and patient experience.
Is accountable for development and regular review of the UWMC Coordinated Quality Improvement Program (CQIP) in order to ensure that UWMC’s quality improvement activities are carried out and documented in compliance with internal and external policies and requirements.
Master's degree in Nursing or other Clinical Healthcare field.
At least 8 years of experience in healthcare quality to include 6 years managing teams within healthcare quality or administration.
CPHQ, ARM or equivalent certification desired.
