Global Product Portfolio Lead Senior Director - Secure Infrastructure

To meet the needs of BCG’s global, mobile, fast growing and increasingly diverse business, we are looking for a Senior Director of Network & Security Engineering (PPL) to lead the strategic direction and execution of BCG’s network and security product portfolio. Delivering a seamless connectivity experience for our staff, and taking ultimate accountability for the delivery of key portfolio outcomes, with relentless focus on Reliability & Performance, Security, Operational Excellence, Compliance and Customer Satisfaction. 

The PPL will be a technical thought leader to drive innovation, insight and best practice, collaborating with cross-functional teams to define product roadmaps, prioritize features, and drive innovation to meet the evolving connectivity needs of our end users. This role requires a deep understanding of network and security technologies, market trends, and user requirements.

Among your responsibilities, you will: 

Own the Portfolio Purpose, Strategy and Roadmap 

  • Define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for our network and security product portfolio, aligned with BCG IT OKRs and high expectations of user experience, ensuring the highest levels of protection and performance across BCG. 
  • Conduct industry research, comparator analysis, and user feedback to identify market trends, opportunities, and challenges. 
  • Inspire and empower squads to envision, define and build solutions, delivering against the Portfolio’s objectives and OKRs 
  • Use facts, data, and analysis to prioritize features and enhancements based on business value, user impact, and technical feasibility. 
  • Working closely with Key Stakeholders, Transformation Programs, Product Owners and the Tech Area Lead to drive alignment between Portfolio priorities and Squads’ priorities and sprint goals. 

Lead the technology strategy of the Portfolio 

  • Drive principles, design and deployment of advanced security frameworks and protocols (e.g., Zero Trust architectures, SASE, CASB) to bolster perimeter and internal defenses. 
  • Lead best practice into large-scale, complex network environments, including WAN, LAN, and cloud networking (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) with an emphasis on performance optimization and security. 
  • Experienced in the deployment and management of security solutions such as firewalls (Next-Gen Palo Alto, Cisco ASA), IDS/IPS, and EPP/EDR. 
  • Experience in implementing/managing IAM solutions such as Okta, including SSO, MFA, and identity governance. Understanding of integrating authentication systems across applications, services, and directories (e.g., AD, LDAP) across cloud and on-premises environments. 
  • In partnership with the ISRM team, implement robust data encryption strategies and VPN technologies to ensure secure data transmission across networks. 

Deliver business results and customer value 

  • Collaborate with engineering, ISRM, EA, and other cross-functional teams to define network and security product outcomes (e.g MTTR, performance, security OKRs), requirements, user epics/stories, and acceptance criteria. 
  • Lead the delivery of large-scale transformations and programs to drive meaningful change to our end users. 
  • Work closely with engineering teams to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of product features and enhancements, identifying and addressing issues and impediments. 
  • Connect across portfolios to remove friction, handoffs and establishing an end-to-end integrated delivery across BCG. 
  • Own the Portfolio budget, driving efficiencies and leading the annual and quarterly planning, prioritization, and investment requirements for the portfolio. 

Empower and enable Squads to realize their missions 

  • Lead and mentor a team of network and security Product Owners and specialists, providing regular feedback, support, and professional development opportunities. 
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the team. 

Drive End-User Engagement and Relationship Management 

  • Engage with users to understand their network and security needs & challenges, gather feedback (including ITS insight, eSAT), and validate improvements and features. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key users and stakeholders, serving as their advocate within BCG IT. 
  • Regularly communicate product updates, roadmap changes, and upcoming changes to end users and stakeholders. 
  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure the delivery of high-quality products, support, and services. 
  • Collaborate with users and partners (e.g. ISRM and cross-portfolio) to develop release strategies, messaging, and collateral for new launches, configurations and capabilities. 

Product Lifecycle Management and Optimization 

  • Drive an observability agenda, establishing and maintaining network and application monitoring and management tools (e.g., Datadog, ThousandEyes, Splunk) for real-time visibility and proactive issue resolution. 
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate product performance, user feedback, and secure connectivity industry dynamics to identify opportunities for optimization and enhancement. 
  • Drive initiatives to improve product usability, scalability, reliability, and security. 
  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits in partnership with ISRM to identify and mitigate risks.

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)

  • A minimum of 15 years of technical experience in IT network and security, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing network or security operations. 
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-scale network and security solutions. 
  • Proven track record in managing and executing IT security projects, including risk assessments, audits, and compliance initiatives. 
  • Deep experience of cloud computing environments and security principles within GCP, Azure & AWS. 
  • Advanced knowledge of current cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies, as well as experience with regulatory and compliance frameworks like NIST, GDPR, HIPAA, or SOC 2. 
  • Senior-level experience leading, motivating, coaching, and developing people and cross-functional teams. 
  • A desire and openness to learning and continuous improvement, both of yourself and your team members 
  • Strong influencing skills to achieve alignment across the organization 
  • Experience in Agile methodology and ways of working is a plus
