The Pilot Facility Senior Technician Specialist provides technical support to the OSD Pilot Facility (PF). This position involves responsibilities that require working across departments within GMS as well as with VMRD colleagues on a regular basis. The Technician Specialist oversees activities of the pilot facility, such as assembly, preparation, cleaning of manufacturing equipment, but must also be able to perform Formulation Specialist duties when needed. This requires high attention to detail, awareness of the sensitivities of working in a manufacturing environment, an engaged work ethic as part of a high-performance team and communicating in a manner that is conducive to effective working relationships. The Senior Technician Specialist will be the SME and proficient in all PF equipment and processes.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support Pilot Facility batch production
- Understand, operate and troubleshoot all manufacturing equipment in PF
- Work and communicate effectively with Project Leaders to understand, maintain, and complete project goals, timeline, process, production records, and Standard Operating Procedures
- Assign the day-to-day work responsibilities of the PF team to meet the schedule
- Works closely with Metrology in creating PM’s and Calibration requirements for PF equipment.
- Work with Maintenance in creating, coordinating, and assisting with work orders, PM’s and calibrations completed in the PF.
- Work with Project Leaders to develop equipment specifications, user requirements, capital scope development and qualification activities
- Manage Raw Material and Packaging Component inventories to ensure availability for project schedule while maintaining the correct inventory levels.
- Deliver efficient, effective and flexible solutions to meet project requirements.
- Maintain strong relationships internally with Procurement, Materials Management, Quality, etc to ensure supply of materials meets requirements. May include sampling of raw materials.
- Communicate with Warehouse personnel on required materials, equipment and finished good deliveries to and from the PF.
- Must have working knowledge of tablet and powder in process test equipment such as Tap Density, LOD, Disinegration, Hardness, Friability, Mass Flow etc
- Work with laboratory personnel in delivery of samples for finished and in process testing of PF products.
- Provide technical input and/or author quality deviations. Completes assigned corrective actions.
- Assist in identifying problems and solutions using yellow belt and/or trouble shooting techniques.
- Provide technical input on new projects. Capable of collecting and assembling data for regulatory submissions.
- Train and mentor other technical and operations personnel.
- Execute special projects and assignments that may involve other departments other than the pilot Facility
- Perform work within all safety and regulatory guidelines, documentation requirements and GMP’s as appropriate for the project stage. Differentiate non-GMP vs GMP requirements.
- Be flexible with working hours in order to meet project timelines.
- The position requires the use of Microsoft applications, database and computer systems. All activities are conducted within a safety-minded culture that strives for continuous improvement. All work is performed in strict compliance with manufacturing standards and regulatory requirements in a lean manufacturing environment. This includes adhering to proper documentation practices and following instructions provided in standard operating procedures and batch records.
- Responsibilities must be performed in compliance with all safety policies and adherence to SOPs, GMPs, and Zoetis Core Beliefs.
- Provide input into SOP and master record updates
- Lead projects of low-to-medium complexity
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Proven ability to work in a team environment to meet short- and long-term objectives. Ability to conceptualize, analyze and implement new methodologies in support of improving customer service, inventory management, and business alignment. Demonstrated ability to function and influence in a team matrix environment and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
- High school diploma, subsequent related advanced science degree preferred
- 15+ years of relevant pharmaceutical experience, oral solid dose highly preferred
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills
- Leadership: Capable of leading low-to-medium complexity technical projects
- Computer Skills: Microsoft Applications
- Certifications: Yellow Belt and/or Lean Six-Sigma Certification Preferred
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work with customers in a service capacity.
