Position Summary

Under minimal supervision, show expertise in performing routine immunology laboratory procedures in compliance with specifications in Standard Operating Procedures and Standard Test Procedures used to support testing and release of product.

Position Responsibilities

  • Perform complex routine laboratory testing independently
  • Interact with interdepartmental customers such as Manufacturing, Central Services and Quality Assurance
  • Perform laboratory testing associated with projects
  • Perform trouble shooting and problem solving for routine tests and processes
  • Demonstrate leadership and participate in laboratory responsibilities and processes
  • Perform training as needed
  • Assist supervisor with daily decisions using data, good judgment and experience
  • Work with Maintenance and Engineering to improve equipment operation
  • Able to proceduralize processes using standard work concepts

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience applying advanced Immunology methodology

Preferred

  • 4 year degree in biological sciences
  • Six to eight year of relevant experience and relevant science courses
  • Working knowledge of Biological Control Laboratories/Chemistry Control Laboratories (preferred)

Technical Skills and Competencies

  • Complete calculations using basic math
  • Understand metric system and basic statistics
  • Ability to solve practical problems with a variety of concrete variables
  • Ability to make logical decisions concerning team and department issues
  • Ability to make laboratory decisions in absence of supervision
  • Ability to recognize product quality issues based on company guidelines

Physical Position Requirements

  • This job entails sitting or standing at a laboratory bench or desk. 
  • The majority of the work is completed during normal business hours; however some projects and timelines may require weekend and off shift work.
