Sr Linux System Administrator with background in maintaining systems in a sustainment environment with Mission Critical systems for the GPS OCX Program.

Responsible for planning, developing, installation, configuration and maintenance of IT systems, storage, end user hardware, software, cloud, and other infrastructures aligned with customer requirements. This includes end-to-end solutions, including execution of detailed design, implementation, and sustainment activities that ensure functionality, data consistency, security and usability of systems aligned with the intended requirements and consumer priorities. Enables IT system consumers to produce their intended work products efficiently and reliably through cross-functional collaboration. Responsible for proactive and predictive management of IT environments, ensuring optimal availability, performance, and integrity be maintained through system expansion, modernization, sustainment, and retirement, based upon the demand from the system consumer. Troubleshoots and resolves IT system issues. Prepares work estimates in support of internal projects and Business Development proposal efforts. Automates routine activities, leveraging scripting and off the shelf solutions to effectively manage IT resources in physical, virtual, and cloud environments and to secure systems. Installs consumer and end user software.

This position requires US Citizenship with a current DoD Secret Clearance

Required Skills:

In-depth understanding of Enterprise level computer technologies to include:

  • Linux System Administration in a development environment; strong background in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 5/6/7)
  • Highly proficient with Installing, troubleshooting and upgrading Linux Server
  • Knowledge of patch management tools such as RPM and YUM package management, Red Hat Satellite
  • Deploying Linux OS using kickstart
  • Active Directory Management:
  • Managing and troubleshooting GPO’s, DNS, and DHCP as it pertains to the Linux OS.
  • Adding machines into active Directory using the Centrify Management tool
  • Setting up service accounts, user accounts and permission them using Centrify Groups.
  • Strong knowledge of VMware Horizon 7.x
  • Deploying Linux VDIs
  • Troubleshooting virtual machines using vCenter to include Networking, OS and host issues.
  • Extensive knowledge VMware vSphere 6.x Infrastructure
  • How to create a VM
  • How to troubleshoot virtual machines using vCenter to include Networking, OS and host issues.
  • Create, maintain and update software deployment and configuration guides, tune system performance, troubleshooting, installing system wide software and allocate mass storage space
  • Basic Network Administration knowledge utilizing CISCO
  • HP hardware: Install, troubleshoot physical hardware in support of the enterprise environment (i.e. server, workstations and thin clients)
  • Application support and troubleshooting to include COTS/GOTS/FOSS Software installations.
  • Excellent knowledge of computer security concepts to include DOD STIG deployment and troubleshooting as well as system monitoring and logging.
  • Ability to write technical documents to include Engineering documents, Installation and configuration documents as needed.
  • Experience with creating and troubleshooting scripts using various languages to include Powershell, Bash, Ruby, Python, etc.
  • Experience with Automation Tools; CHEF, Puppet
  • Willing and able to travel approximately 20% to additional local off-site locations for installations and maintenance work on short notice as needed
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds in support of hardware installations.
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics, and 6 years of related work experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen with a current DoD Secret Clearance
  • Must have a current Security+ Certification
  • Demonstrated technical leadership

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with the Centrify Management suite
  • Application support and troubleshooting to include, but not limited to, Symantec End Point Protection (Anti-Virus) and database support for Microsoft SQL Database management and Microsoft Office Suite of Products
  • Experience with desktop workstation collaboration products and protocols
  • Systems integration experience
  • Understanding of Storage Area Network concepts (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS).
  • Small team supervisory and functional leadership

Required Education (including Major):

A degree in Science, Technology Engineering or Math (STEM), or related STEM degree program from an Accredited University/School/Collegewith emphasis in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Technology and 6 years of relatable experience.
