The qualified candidate will be a motivated self-starter performing the following duties;

  • Develop initial concepts of Opto-Mechanical Assemblies through final part design using 3D Solid Modeling
  • Perform Design for Manufacturability Trade Studies to optimize fabrication / integration cost reductions
  • Iterate designs with Structural / Thermal Analysts to optimize survival / reliability requirements
  • Complete Technical Data Package (TDP) 2D documentation of Solid Model designs
  • Create Initial Releases and perform Revisions of TDP in Product Data Management (PDM) system
  • Cooperate as an integral member of the Integrated Product Team (IPT) contributing to successful program outcomes under demanding cost and schedule constraints
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of (8) years of experience in Mechanical design preferably in the Aerospace industry
  • Proficiency in mechanical design with 3-D CAD Modeling Tools (CREO 5 preferred)
  • Experienced in PDM release (Windchill preferred)
  • Experienced in GD&T per ANSI Y14.5 and performing tolerance stack-up analysis
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Ability to track and report progress against schedule milestone requirements to meet drawing release dates
  • Ability to delegate assignments to less experienced Engineers and check their work for accuracy
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Management and IPT status of daily assignments
  • Ability to obtain a Security Clearance
  • US Citizenship is required

Desired Skills:

  • Experience developing detailed mechanical designs for optical, electrical and/or mechanical systems
  • Experience designing infrared products
  • Experience designing products for cryogenic environments
  • Experience leading large teams, interfacing with internal / external customers and guiding other engineers
  • Experience leading Peer Review meetings
  • Experience with Gate Release process for product development
  • Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Experience Managing Program Schedules and Budgets and reporting status to Program Management
  • Experience creating Proposals for business development
  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering

Required Education (including Major):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mechanical preferred or equivalent education and experience

This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.
