Position Description:

As an Oracle DBA, the candidate will collaborate with Server Admins, Storage, Network and Backup teams to provide operational support to Application teams using Oracle database technology. Oracle portfolio comprises of the databases hosted in the enterprise data centers and distributed locations. The candidate is expected to be well versed in Oracle database installations and configurations, application schema deployment and maintenance, backup and recovery using TSM/TDPO, Veeam and ZDLRA solutions, and performance tuning. Should be familiar with version upgrade and patching process.

Skills Required:

  • Strong experience in Oracle database installations, patching and configurations on multiple platforms.
  • Working with application teams to support application Schema deployment and maintenance.
  • Setting up monitors and alerts using OEM.
  • Set up daily/weekly monthly health reports and follow-up on the corrective actions.
  • Full stack performance tuning, especially SQL tuning with a data driven approach using OEM, AWR, and OS performance monitoring utilities that cover server, network and storage engaging with application teams and other cross-functional support teams.
  • Open trouble shooting tickets with Oracle tech support and follow through on corrective actions.
  • Configure, monitor, and manage Data Guard (DR) switchover and failover events.
  • Well versed in RMAN backup and point-in-time recovery scenarios and recovery steps with TSM/TDPO, Veeam and ZDLRA backup solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of OS and DB security constructs are required.
  • Evaluate and promote new DB features engaging with application teams.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work and share knowledge with cross functional teams is required.
  • Experience in RAC and ExaCC.
  • Provide On-call support during established schedules.

Skills Preferred:

  • Drive to learn architectural principles and application hosting.
  • Adapt to learn and grow to meet organizational demands.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Oracle database administration expertise is required.

Experience Preferred:

  • Strong knowledge of Unix shell scripting is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, both verbal and written skills is required.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent.
