Job Description:

Hardware and Infrastructure (HW&I) Engineering team has an immediate opening for Electrical/RF/Front End Processing Hardware Engineers. This role will design and support development of Satellite Ground Station Interfaces (SGI), including RS-422 switches used as the interface between satellite command and control, RF/Ground Terminal (GT) equipment, Front End Processing equipment (FEPS) and other related systems. The qualified candidates will perform duties which include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop Hardware engineering designs based on meeting requirements for electrical systems design
  • Prepare Hardware Engineering specifications for subsystems and procurement specifications for subcontractors
  • Represent Hardware engineering in development and evaluation of system architectures, designs, and interfaces that meet system specifications
  • Participate in trade studies and vendor/product selection
  • Develop preliminary drawings for FEP equipment systems (CAD capability not required).
  • A US Government TS/SCI security clearance is preferred/required (US citizenship required).
  • Note: Candidates will receive a Sign on Bonus Incentive for a verified active TS/SCI Clearance. (Amount to be determined based upon relevant experience and skill set)**

Required Skills:

  • Able to obtain US Government TS/SCI security clearance (US Citizenship required)
  • RF frequency converter, high power amplifier and other satellite GT system design, integration, and troubleshooting experience
  • Hardware, Computer, or Electrical Engineering system design experience
  • Experience designing an integrated system that includes network, compute, and specialized FEP equipment
  • General knowledge of common information system (compute and network) hardware interfaces
  • Experience verifying hardware requirements as they apply to a subsystem.
  • Experience writing and reviewing manuals, procedures, plans, specifications, engineering drawings and notebooks
  • Experience with developing the Bill of Material (BOM) required to produce a hardware product; initiating the procurement process; and monitoring procurement and logistics progress
  • Able to travel on occasion, domestically, for up to 2 weeks

Desired Skills:

  • Current Existing TS/SCI Security Clearance
  • Experience using and configuring hardware (e.g. setting up system network time protocol)
  • Experience system troubleshooting in heterogeneous hardware environments
  • Experience with RF hardware testing
  • Experience with Linux-based systems for hardware configuration
  • Experience with requirements management throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Experience participating in hardware design and development activities.

Required Education:

Requires a BS/BA degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM), or related STEM degree program from an Accredited University/School/Collegeand 6+ years of related work experience with emphasis in Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Math (preferred); or *14+ years of commensurate experience in a related field for Space to ground Interfaces (SGI) will be considered for this role.
