POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Staff Level Electro-Mechanical Engineer you will complete rapid conceptual iterations and detailed design for cutting edge electro-mechanical systems. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluate flowed-down requirements and develop appropriate design concepts
  • Consider all functional areas simultaneously in a systematic way
  • Budget part tolerances based upon assembly tolerance stack analysis
  • Take responsibility for the design of space-flight hardware and ground support equipment
  • Coordinate work of an Integrated Product Team from concept through integration and test
  • Review and signoff product designs as primary mechanical engineering department representative
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert or a recognized resource in some business related application
  • Assess trade space and feasibility of electro-mechanical and optical mounting solutions
  • Support payload hardware implementation and test
  • Mentor and establish best practices and guidelines for hardware solutions
  • Support various program and customer communications such as status reports, telecoms with customer and vendors, design review presentations, and detailed technical reports

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS

BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related. Master’s Degree a plus.

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 7 years as Mechanical Engineer
  • Proficiency with software tool PTC CREO and GD&T
  • Proficiency with packaging electronics, sensors and optics in high vibration thermally dynamic environment
  • Experience as a lead Mechanical Engineer on programs
  • Experience with designing for space environments preferred
  • Experience with product integration at customer sites preferred
