Collins Aerospace is one of the world's largest suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and defense products. The ISR & Space Systems business unit provides products and services to global government and commercial customers that enable mission success in the harshest environments of space, in the air, at sea, and on the ground. We design and manufacture Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) and Active Thermal Control Systems (ATCS) on a number of space & sea platforms including the International Space Station, the U.S. space suit, the next generation of space vehicles such as CST-100 and Orion, and the US Navy’s submarine fleet.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join us as an Electrical Systems Engineer to support the design, development, verification & validation, and operational support of ECLSS and ATCS hardware for future space vehicles. Responsibilities may include: system development trade studies and optimization, creation of electrical system/controller functional block diagrams, development of concepts of operations, developing product requirements at the system/component level for electrical hardware/software, electrical system modeling, steady state & transient performance analyses, and electrical system/controller/FPGA verification planning/procedures/reports including integrated development testing and final verification testing. Skills in Matlab/Simulink/Simscape, DOORS & DXL, Excel & VBA, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), SysML, MagicDraw & Cameo Modeler. 

Experience / Basic Qualifications

  • Relevant component hardware experience: electrical systems, motors/motor controllers, electrical boards, actuators, sensors, power supplies, FPGAs
  • Ability to work well both independently and within an integrated product development (IPD) team environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent writing & math skills
  • Must be a US Person

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience performing electric system analyses
  • Experience on hardware development program: proposal/development/manufacture/verification/operational support
  • Experience performing system development/integration/architecting/testing

Basic Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
