Job Description:

  • Radar Electronics Department has immediate and upcoming career growth opportunities for RF Subsystem Engineer(s). The department resides within the Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC) Center.

We require domain knowledge of RF systems, RF subsystems, Active Electronically Scanned Arrays (AESAs) and associated technologies. AESA technologies are used for military radar, electronic warfare (EW), and communications systems. The department is responsible for the full-scope of antenna product solutions, spanning architecture trades, design, development, integration, deployment, and sustainment of antenna systems and associated integrated system verification solutions.

The RF Subsystems Engineer will be responsible for performing analyses, developing subsystem models including subsystem in system models, and allocating requirements for the antenna, subassemblies and components. The primary role for this individual will support technical analysis, RF system performance predictions, antenna performance predictions, specification allocation and RF subsystem integration and test. Candidates should have experience in the design and development of state-of-the-art antenna and active electronic scanned arrays and RF subsystems for Radar, EW, communications, and/or other antenna systems across multiple platforms.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 8 years of related hardware design experience with at least 6 years of RF systems; Candidates should have experience in the design and development of state-of-the-art antenna and active electronic scanned arrays and RF subsystems for Radar, EW, communications, and/or other antenna systems across multiple platforms.
  • Proficiency with antenna theory/applications
  • Knowledge of AESA architectures and beamforming including analog and digital beamforming; RF system and AESA power and control subsystems; RF system integration and characterization.
  • Proficiency in RF system design, subsystem design, and architectural (functional and physical) trade analysis of antennas, transceivers, receivers, radiators, RF manifolds, and RF devices.
  • Proficiency with commercial RF system modelling tools, such as Keysight ADS, Keysight Genesys and SystemVue, National Instruments Visual System Simulator, Mathworks Matlab Phased Array System and RF Toolboxes, Mathworks Simulink, AGI STK.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Occasional business travel is required.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance within one year of start date; Active Clearance is preferred.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with AESA integration and calibration

Required Education: B.S. in a related STEM discipline; EE is preferred.
