The Whole Life Engineering Directorate (WLED) is made up of several disciplines whose main objective is to influence hardware and systems early in their life cycle to assure effective operation, reliability, maintainability and economical ownership by the customer and end user.

WLED seeks a Training Material Developer based out of Marlborough, MA. In this role, you’re responsible for the development and execution of 3-D simulations sourced from Computer Aided Design (CAD) 3-D models, as well as graphics, illustrations and training materials. In addition, you’ll produce Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) for training materials supporting organizational level maintenance and operations activities across multiple product lines. You’ll conduct technical reviews and analyses of technical engineering data and you’ll promote interactions with both technical writers and engineering subject matter experts (SMEs) to help to produce and generate state of the art immersive technology solutions.

Additional Responsibilities will include development of training material and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs), including the following subject matter:

  • System functional theory
  • Operations
  • Preventative and corrective maintenance, schematics, and illustrated parts breakdowns from compiled engineering technical reports, drawings, and parts lists
  • Train the Trainer Radar courses
  • Identification of required student Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs), and Programs of Instruction (POIs)

This job is based out of our Marlboro, MA facility, but may require local travel to our other New England offices.

This position can be a salary grade G08 or G09 based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience, education and responsibility requirements for the position.

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only US Citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Required Skills

  • 4+ years’ experience participating in or leading projects or developing training materials in a military or civilian environment
  • At a Grade G08, 2+ years of experience in the aforementioned areas along with a relevant Master's Degree may be considered for this job.
  • At a Grade G09, 4+ years of experience in the aforementioned areas along with a relevant Master's Degree may be considered for this job
  • Related experience in logistics support, system fielding and implementation or project or program life cycle management
  • US Citizenship is required

Desired Skills

  • Experience with NGRAIN simulation software and/or Basic computer animation skills
  • Ability to interpret and analyze software code/algorithms, hardware design, system troubleshooting and/or fault isolation, CAD models, and/or electrical schematics in order to develop training material
  • Knowledge of the Agile development process/environment
  • Familiarity with standards-based, XML tagging processes and designs and applications for data product developments and engineering to include developing illustrations, tagging and build rules with S1000D, MIL-STD 3031, MIL-STD 40051-1 and -2, 2361, MIL-PRF 38784, MIL-DTL 24784, SCORM, TRADOC 350-70, NAVAIR INSTRUCTION 13034, MIL-HDBK 29612, MIL-HDBK 1222, and others.
  • Experience developing illustrations for commercial or military hardware technical manuals
  • Understanding of Earned Value fundamentals and/or project budgetary management experience
  • Experience developing technical documentation, training material or conducting courses
  • Experience rolling out training in a variety of forms (online and face-to-face) and to a large audience
  • Experience using, manipulating, and exporting artifacts from 3-D CAD models, using PTC Creo, Solidworks, Autodesk, or other CAD-based software
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with RADAR and related technologies
  • Knowledge of export control regulations (ITAR/EAR)
  • Leadership and influential skills, interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, team building skills, and multitasking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise cultural sensitivity
  • Technical leadership experience and leading other team members during problem resolution
