Role Overview

This position is for a Senior Systems Engineer on the Helmet Vision Systems team in the Common Platform Hardware organization. The Helmet Vision Systems team provides situational awareness capabilities to rotary wing, fixed wing, and surface customers in Government Systems markets. The team develops helmet mounted displays and digital night vision products by integrating sensors, processing and display capabilities to meet specific platform requirements. The HVS team transitions technologies from research and development into full production rate, qualified products.

Primary Responsibilities:

The candidate will serve as a technical leader for development and integration activities for helmet vision systems development project teams. This responsibility spans all aspects of the Electro-optical and Infrared (EO/IR) vision system and related subsystems, including sensors, hardware, processing, algorithms, optics, and micro-displays. Specific responsibilities of this position include Helmet Mounted Display System and subsystem (micro-displays, sensors, algorithms, hardware) requirements analysis, definition, and validation; systems and subsystems integration and requirements verification testing; effective technical collaboration among systems, hardware and software design functions; assisting in resolving technical problems that cross functional domain areas of hardware and software; and supporting customer platform integration. 

Skills that we are seeking:

  • Experience working with Electro-optical and/or infrared imaging sensor systems and/or display systems
  • Knowledge of advanced electro-optical systems to include imaging systems in multiple spectral bands, and digital image processing.
  • Knowledge of advanced display technologies, to include experience with micro-display and projection technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment, excellent interpersonal skills and proactive problem-solving abilities.
  • Must be a self-starter, be able to multitask, and take advantage of opportunities and events to achieve results
  • Maintain an active interest in studying, learning, and continuous self-development
  • Serve as technical leader for highly complex systems.

Qualifications:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline (STEM degree highly preferred) and 5 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience.In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Must possess or be eligible for obtaining and maintaining a U.S. DoD Secret Clearance
  • 10% travel will be required
