Role Overview
The Military Avionics and Helicopters (MA&H) Directorate is growing rapidly to support the US Army Future Vertical Lift (FVL) family of aircraft. These positions are responsible for positioning Collins Aerospace as the mission equipment provider and avionics solution provider for FVL aircraft, including the Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft (FARA) and the Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA).
The Future Vertical Lift Integrated Project Team (FVL IPT) department is looking for a Principal Platform Systems Engineer to develop aircraft level system requirements, designs, and tests for the Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft (FARA) program. FARA is one of five aircraft that comprise the US Army Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization priority, with a focus on improving capability in the near-future battle space.
The Principal Systems Engineer is expected to leverage their past experience collaborating with Aircraft OEMs to lead development of the mission system architecture, translate the customer requirements to mission system requirements, determine use case scenarios and provide that information to the team, and allocate requirements to the various systems of the aircraft. This effort will transition to assembling the software/hardware components and testing the overall system. This role will be the catalyst for defining the systems engineering processes and/or technologies to be utilized by Collins Aerospace for the Future Vertical Lift market. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to contribute to front-end design for multiple clean sheet aircraft that will be in use by the Army for the next 50 years and will enable advanced capabilities to the US Army for the near-future battle space. You will be working in an exciting, fast-paced, dynamic environment, where the decisions you make will have lasting impacts to the Collins Aerospace business and will provide differentiators for the US Army’s continual drive for airspace superiority.
