Job Description:

Raytheon Technologies RIS Field Engineering is seeking a Level II Operations Engineer (OE) to support the Integrated Support Facility (ISF) in Pittsfield, MA. This engineer shall work within the Logistics and Production Control Team (LPC), under the direction of the LPC manager, and provide technical support for the day to day activities of a depot level repair facility. Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

Procurement Support

  • The OE is the technical point of contact for procurement efforts and will review all Material Requests (MR) for technical content. The OE will provide inputs regarding dimensions, materials, fit, function, and inspection requirements as prescribed by customer direction, drawings, and program guidelines.
  • The OE will coordinate support of vendor or material qualifications being performed by the Design Agency. When needed, the OE will provide vendors with technical requirements or supporting data. The OE will track the status of vendor and material qualifications.
  • When presented with material or equipment requirements, the OE will research and identify potential vendors, request quotes and technical data, and prepare proposal packages suitable for delivery to the customer.

Inventory Control Support

  • The OE will be responsible for assessing consumption rates for ISF materials and developing appropriate stock levels. The OE will develop min, max, reorder quantities, and other information related to the Master Parts File based on historic data and forecasted production numbers.
  • The OE will be responsible for researching the history of guidance hardware in stores and updating the inventory system with accurate status to be used when selecting hardware for issue.
  • The OE will be responsible for inventory cycle counts and performing root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.

Logistics Support

  • The OE will be responsible for overseeing shipping and receiving activities. The OE will ensure customer requirements are met as well as assess shipping and receiving activities to develop improved processes with focus on efficiency and accuracy.

Process Documentation

  • The OE will research material drawings and hardware bills of material for discrepancies and prepare Engineering Change Requests (ECR) for submittal to the customer and design agency.
  • The OE will review customer driven Engineering Changes to material specifications and assess impact to inventory, vendors, and operations.

Process Improvement

  • The OE will be responsible for assessing LPC activities and working with the team to develop solutions which will improve efficiency, accuracy, and responsiveness.

The position requires the OE to have a technical understanding of the type of materials being procured, manufacturing operations, and hardware requirements typical of aviation electronics. The OE must possess the ability to identify nonconforming conditions as well as the ability to develop and explain the appropriate course of corrective action in clear and concise language for both the customer and peers alike.

Required Skills:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in an engineering function related to manufacturing, repair, or depot operations.
  • The candidate must have strong communication skills, written and oral, and be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • The candidate will have working knowledge of standard MRP processes/practices.

Desired Skills:

  • Evaluation of customer requirements and specifications
  • Development of costed bills of material
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment

Required Education (including Major):

  • B.S. in STEM or a combination of education and applicable experience. BS + 2 years, AS + 8 years, High School + 10 years.

Other Requirements (Clearance, travel):

  • SECRET - Must be able to obtain a security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance within one year.
  • SECRET - existing clearance preferred.
