Role Overview

The Common Platform Hardware department in Military Avionics and Helicopters has an opening for a Staff Electrical Engineer. This department is responsible for the development and sustainment of state of the art avionics hardware products including integrated processing cabinets, displays, video processing modules, and control panels used in military fighter, fixed wing, and rotary wing aircraft platforms.

Our products employ the following technologies and interfaces; Airborne Electronic Hardware including FPGAs and ASICs. PowerPC, Intel, and ARM embedded processing resources. Avionics interfaces including ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, and Ethernet. Video interfaces including SMPTE, DVI, and DisplayPort.

Responsibilities:

  • Full lifecycle FPGA development from requirements capture to product integration and release.
  • The Staff Electrical Engineer role also has opportunities for project engineer and control account management (PE/CAM) work, and has high expectations for leadership within a design team, and communication to our internal and external customers.

Qualifications:

The position must have requirements include:

  • US Citizenship or Green Card holder
  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent from an ABET accredited university and 7 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience.In the absence of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members and independently on assigned tasks

Experience in the following areas is required:

  • FPGA requirement generation experience working with systems and subsystems teams to determine meaningful and testable requirements for the design
  • Device Level Architecture experience and the ability to decompose requirements between FPGAs and other devices on a card
  • FPGA Level Architecture experience and the ability to decompose requirements between different modules within a device architecture
  • FPGA Design Experience, including writing VHDL, use of Synthesis and Layout Tools and a working knowledge of how to optimize for design constraints such as Clock Speed, Logic Utilization, and Power
  • Experience working with JTAG programmers for FPGAs and standard lab equipment for integration testing of hardware designs
  • Interfacing with complex embedded devices (microprocessors, graphics processors, memory)

Experience in the following areas is desirable:

  • DO-254 Certification of Advanced Electronic Hardware
  • High Speed interface designs with 64/66 encoded transceivers
  • Control Account Management and Earned Value Reporting
