Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Principal Electrical Engineer to join the Displays and Mission Computer Products Department within the Military Helicopter and Display Products Directorate. The department is responsible for development of hardware products for a variety of military platforms including, tanker transports, and helicopters. The development of product line technology includes:

  • Mission computers
  • Small form factor Multi-Function Displays
  • Data Transfer Units and Network Attached Storage
  • Processing resources (PowerPC, Intel, and ARM processors)
  • Avionics I/O (Ethernet, ARINC 429, MIL-STD 1553, PCIe)

Responsibilities:

The candidate is expected to contribute throughout the full product development cycle in the following areas:

  • Top level hardware product design and requirements capture
  • Development and verification of digital and mixed signal hardware designs
  • Oversight of Printed Wire Board (PWB) layout
  • Integration and design verification
  • Support to qualification and factory transition

Qualifications:

Must Have Requirements:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 10 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 7 years of relevant experience.In the absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required.
  • US Citizenship or Green Card holder
  • Minimum 5 years of design experience
  • Ability to work with systems and subsystems groups to determine meaningful and testable requirements for the design
  • Familiarity with standard lab equipment
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members and independently on assigned tasks.

Desired areas of experience or an interest in career development for this position are:

  • PWB layout of PCI express and XAUI
  • Processor board (PPC, Intel, and ARM) design
  • 2D and 3D graphics engines
  • Lighting protection circuits and testing
  • Hardware and RTOS integration
  • Fiber optic transceivers
  • DO-160 or MIL-STD-810/MIL-STD-461 qualification
  • FPGA development
