Raytheon Intelligence & Space (RIS) is looking for talented Chief Engineer to join our Weapon Systems Integration Production Team in Indianapolis, Indiana

As a Chief Engineer, you will be a member of a dynamic and multidiscipline development team within the WSI Production team. In this role, the individual will enhance technical program execution performance through focus of message, leadership visibility, clear role definition, decision making and organizational relationship, structured feedback and aligned goal setting. Provide single engineering technical point of contact with the program office, the customer, and other external entities for the production centered programs within the Weapon System Integration (WSI) program area within Airborne Solutions. The candidate will support technical and cost estimation efforts for engineering change proposals and integrated change management activity, and lead/support engineering studies.

As required, the Chief Engineer will engage in the following roles:

  • Provide technical direction on overall system design and development
  • Support technical and cost estimation efforts for Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Integrated Change Management (ICM) activity
  • Lead and/or support Engineering Studies
  • Provide technical direction to the Discrepancy Report Review Board (DRRB)
  • Participate in TIMs with the customer and subcontractors
  • Prepare status or briefings for management
  • Support the Risk and Opportunity Board for the program
  • Represent Hardware Engineering on Failure Review Boards
  • Participate in the Robust Engineering for Manufacturing Community of Practice
  • Operate in best interest of user and provide “Voice of the Customer” within scope of the contract
  • Act as “Face of Raytheon” to senior technical customers for program
  • Work with SCM & MDO to ensure high quality products. Leverages the core production support team to resolve floor issues quickly.
  • Elevate issues and risks to appropriate levels within Program Office, WSI Chief Engineer, and Engineering management, as required
  • Chair internal technical reviews as determined by the WSI Chief Engineer (e.g. PRRs, FRBs, CTS)
  • Represent Engineering on Material Review Boards
  • Lead technical collaboration with internal and external customers looking for new production/repair opportunities
  • Ensure contractual and internal technical/production processes are established and maintained on the program
  • Leverage R6s to capture AUPC reduction opportunities
  • Guide technical solution development with key emphasis on Transition to Production activities
  • Chairs the Engineering Review Board (ERB) and supports the Program Manager as technical chair to the Configuration Control Board (CCB) (as needed)
  • Actively collaborate with WSI Chief Engineer and ensure alignment between the programs efforts and the Mission area product/technology strategy

Required Skills:

  • Must be a US Citizen and have/ or the ability to obtain and retain Secret clearance.
  • 10+ years demonstrated production related engineering leadership experience with proven track record
  • Experience with technical leadership in support of Engineering Change Proposals
  • Experience in Agile/DevOps development environments
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with and communicate with all levels of management and individual contributors on the program team
  • Proven written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of tools

Desired Skills:

  • Chief Engineer / Lead Systems Engineer on a government contract
  • Experience using Enterprise Architect
  • Understanding of DoDAF 2.0 architecture framework
  • Ability to communicate complex and diverse engineering topics to achieve team consensus
  • Experience in cost estimation
  • Raytheon BOE certification
  • Experience with participating in Engineering Gate reviews
  • Experience working on a program managed using Earned Value Management
  • Qualified Raytheon Six Sigma Specialist or equivalent
  • Master’s Degree or higher in Engineering, Science or Mathematics

Education Requirements:

Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM), or related STEM degree program from an Accredited University/School/College and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience.
