This engineering fabrication shop position will be responsible for providing general machining operations and CNC programming/machining support to produce engineering prototype and test parts, fixtures and assemblies for multiple engineering programs.
Experience in producing and assembling tight tolerance sheet metal parts and related mechanical assemblies to engineering drawing specifications is also desired.
Required Skills:
- 8+ years related work experience
- Active DoD Secret Security Clearance
- Experience utilizing machine shop tools to create parts meeting engineering specifications
- Knowledge in running mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders, cut-off saws, and other related shop tools.
- Completing tight tolerance precision machined parts meeting the required level of detail, on schedule, at the required cost.
- CNC machining on Haas Vertical Machining Centers.
- The ability to program offline using CAD/CAM programming tools. Pro-Engineer/ Pro-Manufacturing Creo 5.0 a plus but not required.
- 3-axis environment. 4&5 multi-axis desired.
- The ability to work with Design engineers to understand complex Blueprints, Parts drawings, sketches, assembly drawings, BOM’s and product specifications to produce working hardware for various levels of engineering testing and customer prototype reviews.
- Manage a variety of walk-in work and job requests to support quick request turn-around through good communication, schedule understanding and negotiation using previous similar machine shop experience
- Experience working all aspects of delivering the complete finished parts to the customer including work planning activities, material ordering, programming, machining, scheduling finishes/coatings and timely delivery with minimal direction
- Microsoft office including Excel and Word related tools
- Willing to work flexible hours including 2nd or 3rd shift and overtime as necessary to meet project deadlines
- U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date
Desired Skills:
- 10+ years overall machining experience
- 5+ years HAAS CNC machining experience
- Strong knowledge in offline programming
- Machine shop experience with 5th Axis CNC programming, operation and troubleshooting experience in a design engineering/prototyping small shop environment.
- Assembling/making parts for intricate electronic and mechanical designs
- Experienced with sheet metal tools including brakes, punches & shears to fabricate electrical housings, enclosures and related hardware components while holding tolerances to .005 of an inch.
- Microsoft Project or similar tools
- Programming and Operational experience with Mitutoyo Coordinate Measurement Machines
Required Education:
- High School Diploma with 8+ years of experience
Desired Education:
- Journeyman toolmaker or similar experience (10,000+ Hours)
- Associates Degree from Technical School
