This position is for the Advanced Radio Frequency (ARF) Advanced Programs (AP) Program Area Engineer (PAE) within the Advanced Concepts and Technologies (ACT) Mission Area of Raytheon’s Intelligence and Space (RI&S) business.

The AP PAE will lead a portfolio of programs working on advanced generation multifunction RF systems. Program tasks include:

  • Define requirements, analyze, design, fabricate and test advanced RF subsystems and systems.
  • Provide engineering due diligence while remaining cognizant of programmatic cost and schedule constraints.
  • Maintain close coordination with Advanced Mission Systems (AMS) programs in order to help shape and execute ongoing efforts in that product line.
  • Plan and execute our programs to ensure successful transition to other Mission Areas when directed by leadership.

The AP PAE will support the ARF CE in managing the engineering activities across these program tasks by providing input to all decisions impacting engineering designs, analyses and system architectures to ensure the ARF portfolio products meet all technical / operational requirements and customer expectations.

The AP PAE will provide technical leadership of peer groups and technical mentoring to program engineers while working closely with the ARF CE as the interface between program management and engineering to ensure a high level of team performance and cohesiveness. The AP PAE will also work closely with customer program management and engineering, facilitating communication between all of the team members.

The PA PAE will lead a group composed of smart, creative, problem-solving engineers who exhibit high energy, deep technical skills, and a drive to get things done. Leadership responsibilities include:

Basic Qualifications:

  • 12 or more years of work experience in Radar, Electronic Warfare, Communication and/or other RF programs
  • Experience as a Chief Engineer on a large program, or another role providing technical leadership to a large engineering team
  • Experience providing technical leadership throughout the entire product life cycle
  • Experience with identifying critical staffing resources to ensure staffing plans to address technical development areas
  • Experience with developing and presenting technical briefings to the customer and company leadership
  • Ability to effectively lead teams of technical experts to resolve challenging technical problems
  • Experience providing engineering inputs for execution plans and Estimates at Completion (EAC)
  • Experience identifying and providing engineering resources needed to get required engineering work product requirements done (people, processes, facilities & tools)
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance with a security background investigation within the last 5.5 years at the time of job start (Top Secret desirable)
  • Ability to obtain access to Special Access Programs (SAP/SAR)

Desired Skills:

  • Proposal management, from initial pursuit and capture planning to proposal delivery
  • Experience in technology strategy planning
  • Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL), Program Manager (PM) or line engineering management experience
  • Experience with the technical review and approval of proposals and Gates to ensure technical and execution feasibility
  • Experience in new business development for advanced technology, including direct customer interface and a familiarity with the DoD Science and Technology community

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Math, Physics or related degree; advanced degree(s) strongly preferred
