The Strategic Missile Defense Mission Area is seeking a Program Area Director (PAD) for the Integrated Missile Defense Solutions (IMDS) portfolio. The PAD acts as the primary interface with the Missile Defense Agency customer, industry partners, representatives and/or consultants to ensure continued alignment with customer requirements and program execution. This position will require the ability to coordinate and effectively operate among multiple Raytheon Technologies businesses, industry partners, subcontractors & small business, government agencies and domestic/international customers at both the senior leadership and product execution levels. The IMDS programs span full product life-cycle support including development, production, and sustainment. The program area includes strong franchise programs and growth opportunities within the Raytheon portfolio. This role will be located in Huntsville, AL.
This position reports directly to the Vice President Strategic Missile Defense, and has full accountability and authority for leading and managing the program area successfully. The IMDS PAD will also serve on the Strategic Missile Defense Leadership Team and act as a senior leader both at the RTX Huntsville Site and community.
Specific Tasks Include:
- Sets strategy, vision, and direction for program execution and portfolio growth with accountability for innovative and creative solutions.
- Responsible for the Annual Operating Plan, future business forecast and resources to achieve commitments.
- Accountable and responsible for executing all programs and captures within the Integrated Missile Defense Solutions portfolio leveraging matrix team(s) and sub-contractors across multiple RTX locations.
- Responsible for meeting contractual commitments including the financial, quality, technology, and schedule performance.
- Establishes and maintains strong relationships with customer and industry partners.
- Responsible for supporting regular reporting to executive leadership on program performance, AOP forecasting, monthly MORs and quarterly EACs.
- Uses approved control systems and reports that accurately measure progress, identify potential problems in sufficient time for corrective action to be taken and ensures the meeting of contract commitments.
- Ensures alignment of human and capital resource requirements to achieve contract (s) performance.
- Ensure compliance with ITAR and Export requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- 16+ years of program management or related experience to include experience with the Missile Defense.
- Agency and understanding of the Ballistic Missile Defense Systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, dynamic environment with time critical requirements.
- Executive level experience building, maintaining, and influencing relationships with customers and partnerships.
- Demonstrated experience managing cost, schedule and technical performance for large programs with proficient use of program management tools.
- Demonstrated experience planning and meeting five year plans and AOPs.
- Experience building and leading high performance and diverse teams.
- Existing, active Secret Clearance (DoD).
Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Science, Math, or related field
Desired Qualifications:

- 16+ years of Program Management in the Defense Industry and in-depth understanding of the DoD environment and acquisition process.
- Program Management Excellence (PMX) Level 2 Certification and ability to obtain PMX Level 1 certification within one year of being in role.
- Experience with program management tools such as Earned Value Management System (EVMS), Integrated Master Plan (IMP) / Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), Risk and Opportunity Management or similar business processes.
- Ability to work effectively and communicate with all levels of leadership, the program team, and internal matrix Functional organizations.
- Demonstrated experience working with senior leadership within the Missile Defense Agency.
- Demonstrated direct experience managing people or resources in organizations with budgets exceeding $500M.
- Experience with FMS contracts.
- Demonstrated experience as a change agent, able to energize organizations to achieve beyond expectations.
- Demonstrated ability to complete complex assignments and develop creative cross mission area solutions.
- Master Degree in Engineering, Science, Math or Business.
This position requires the eligibility to have or obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process.
