Raytheon Intelligence & Space's Field Engineering has an opportunity is for a Sr. Field Engineer I position in Chesapeake, VA. The Field Engineer is responsible for providing engineering support to the engineering group for various hardware and software projects. Will work under limited supervision within an IOT team that is assigned entire projects, support role tasking, testing evolutions, data collections, and product evaluations within field. Job will require moderate to significant travel. May be required to act in leadership role to drive projects/task/processes in collaboration with multiple departments, customers, other sub-contractors, and or agencies, sometimes as sole representative. Must have significant knowledge and experience within program and be capable of performing system to component level testing and repair, procedural reviews, system/subsystem modifications, develop/provide training material for various audiences as well as play a significant role in documentation revision. The selected candidate will be responsible for daily duties include (but not limited to):

  • Review and investigation of operational system outages for failure trends
  • Gather, stage, prepare equipment and support items for logistics transfer
  • Coordinate logistics support for procurement… ensure all appropriate documentation and tracking completed IAW ROTHR and local and international policies
  • Represent as a technical reference on ROTHR system to fellow employees at all levels, Contractors, Government/Military at all levels
  • Perform technical documentation review and generate redlines on ROTHR/OTH documents
  • Provide support to Engineering staff for development and execution of system thru unit level testing on both online and offline operational systems
  • Setup bench level testing and repair stations, procedures, processes
  • Provide product research, evaluation, reports, quotes and procurement support
  • 24/7 Support to ROTHR O&M for advance troubleshooting and system recovery
  • Develop and provide training on ROTHR equipment, assemblies, subsystems, and overall system at local and remote sites/locations requiring travel
  • Support preparation and execution of install and integration of system enhancements, obsolescence replacements, repairs, etc… at local and remote sites requiring travel
  • Provide support to multiple OTH groups for execution of test scenarios and experiments requiring travel

The ideal candidate possesses strong written and oral communications skills, extensive ROTHR specific system knowledge, ROTHR O&M process knowledge, OTHR technical knowledge, strong time management skills, the ability to creatively find solutions to complex challenges, strong leadership skills, comfortable working independently as well as within a team, be comfortable working unconventional schedules with moderate to heavy travel, the ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast paced environment.

Required Skills:

  • US Citizen with an active Secret clearance
  • 15+ Experience in maintenance of OTHR systems with complex RF electronics, fiber optic components, communication, server clusters, networking, hardware and software subsystems
  • 8+ years of experience directly related to ROTHR Operations and Maintenance with an emphasis on system operation, system testing, data collection, site level troubleshooting, equipment component level troubleshooting/repair, maintenance tracking and logistics support
  • 4+ years of experience directly supporting IOT activities to include system enhancement support, installation, integration, testing, data collections, logistics, administration and property storage
  • Some experience supporting field experiments to include setup and operation of test scenarios in collaboration with government agencies, and other contractors
  • Willingness to provide direct technical support for setup, mobilization, and operation of OTHR equipment for various data collection scenarios (air, sea, and ground)
  • 24/7 support for ROTHR troubleshooting and recovery with travel as needed
  • Experience developing and providing training on ROTHR system to various audiences internal and external to ROTHR program
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and troubleshoot problems with efficiency
  • Demonstrated ability to plan out and execute complex projects
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written modes, and be able to author and present subject specific presentations
  • Proficiency with test equipment for; HF RF equipment, Fiber Optic, networking, etc
  • Proficiency soldering, building wiring harnesses, cannon plugs, bench alignment of OTHR equipment, fiber optic repair, component level fault isolation and repair

Desired Skills:

  • Experience administering OpenVMS
  • Understanding of radar concepts/principles
  • Experience with the TX and RX ROTHR radar system
  • Experience tasked in critical path of project
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of software to include Visio, Linux
  • Certifications such as: Fiber Optic repair, 2m Solder repair, forklift operation
  • Bilingual - fluent in English and Spanish

Required Education (including Major):

  • STEM/University Degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. 162416
