We are searching for a staff design professional, who will work independently. She / he will assemble documentation packages, perform some calculations with regard to technical design, and develop detailed drawings using relevant tools.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support engineering activities associated with the analysis, design, and structural testing of thermal control and environmental life support components and assemblies for various aerospace applications including the NASA’s Crew Exploration Vehicle, NASA’s International Space Station as well other aerospace and satellite platforms. This is an individual contributor level position 
  • Perform CAD Admin duties, apply industry standards and practices and be the digital technology expert within the engineering department
  • Deliver against the cost, schedule and technical requirements of the program as defined by the Chief Engineer or IPT leadership in accordance with Standard Work. Deliverables include ensuring execution of Peer and Design reviews, analyses, Validation activities, Verification activities, design documentation (drawings, reports), task cost and schedule performance, etc. 
  • Help build core-competencies within the mechanical engineering team through coaching, training and counseling of direct reports to improve performance
  • Develop and implement mechanical design best practices, processes and procedures within the Standard Work framework to deliver consistent results
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering, Programs, Operations, Quality and Supply Chain to achieve optimal design solutions

Basic Qualifications

  • Expert in 3-D CREO CAD modeling and 2D Drawings
  • Fluent in Model Base Definition MBD standards and practices
  • Experience with PTC Windchill PLM, Product Data Managemet, BOM Management & Change Configuration Management
  • Expert in Tolerance Analysis, ASME 14.5. Should be capable of dissecting large assemblies by conducting various tolerance loops and tolerance calculations
  • Prior experience in aerospace structures and engineering fluid component design
  • Expert Knowledge of drawing creation, geometric tolerancing applications, and drawing practices
  • Experience with manufacturing techniques for limited production hardware
  • Ability to work within a matrix organization to achieve team and program goals
  • A positive "can do" attitude, good presentation skills, respect for others, confidence, and patience
  • Ability and willingness to mentor and support a developing workforce
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR
  • Advance degree and 3 years of relevant experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics is preferred
  • Design and provide fabrication drawings for components used in particle accelerators such as magnets, power supplies, Rotating Equipment
  • Work from sketches, oral information or data sheets, develop and complete layouts and illustrative drawings
  • Maintain close contact with engineer and individuals for whom work is being done, reporting changes and modifications to engineer
  • CREO (currently V4)
  • Correct errors in models
  • Configure CREO parametric settings
  • Monitor part numbers/names/status of CAD documents for engineers
  • Assist engineers with issues they come across
  • PTC VAR Consultation for resolution
  • Initiating and follow through with PTC Support Tickets
  • Tracking & maintaining current CAD/ PDM licenses / subscriptions
  • MRP/ ERP experience a plus
  • Evaluate new versions for incorporation into existing IT environment
  • Windchill (currently V11)
  • Establish management guidelines
  • Maintain Groups and permissions as required
  • Assign new participants to their proper groups
  • Deactivate participants when they leave the company
  • Maintain Folder Structure for current and future architecture
  • Create folders for new participants as required
  • Server Maintenance in conjunction with IT department
  • Working knowledge of MS SQL
  • Management existing engineering SharePoint
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in science, technology, engineering , or math is preferred
