This position will have life cycle responsibilities for both new product development and support of existing avionics processing products already in production and fielded. The product Value Stream Leader leads and coordinates technical product development; integrating the work of research and development, manufacturing, marketing, sales and service functions to create a successful product line. Primary responsibilities for this position include strategic planning for their assigned product lines, execution of product developments, promoting cross-business product synergies to support business unit objectives, and cradle-to-grave responsibility for the products.

Job Responsibilities

Successful candidate will have responsibilities for managing avionics processing products through their life cycle and creating cross-business product synergies to support business objectives.

  • Coordinates within program management, engineering, business development and sales to generate development plans to support programs and pursuits.
  • Supports preparation of the annual product line Strategic & Financial Plan and Annual Operating Plan.
  • Develops product road maps and identify opportunities to generate product reuse across multiple programs.
  • Manages IR&D and customer-funded product development activities.
  • Product development responsibilities include cost, schedule, technical performance, risk management, product support, manufacturing, and quality of all assigned product lines.
  • Presents at customer, program or product reviews.
  • Manages supplier relationships in coordination with Subcontracts Management.
  • Ensures successful transition of products into the manufacturing environment.
  • Develops product quality improvement plans based upon evaluation of product acceptance rates, reliability, scrap, and other quality data.
  • Utilize LEAN concepts and Design to Cost (DTC) to lower product costs and increase profit.
  • Manage obsolescence to ensure continued production of products.

Required Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 10 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 7 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Qualified candidates should have a strong technical background, preferably in avionics products and systems, with experience leading and managing complex product or system developments. Successful candidates will demonstrate an ability to balance technical knowledge and business acumen to manage this product line.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strength in interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Experience with software or hardware project planning and execution.
  • Understanding of the earned value management system and how it is used in program execution.
  • Experience with manufacturing transition and sustained production.
  • Well-developed communication skills, both oral and written.
