Secure Systems Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Raytheon Intelligence & Space is seeking a talented Systems Security Engineer (SSE) to join the Secure Systems Department. This position requires individuals who can apply their defense industry technical, Cybersecurity, and Risk Management Framework (RMF) knowledge and experience to system security engineering within the areas of cybersecurity, anti-tamper, software assurance, supply chain exploitation, and threat/design vulnerability analysis. The SSE participates in the development of embedded security solutions, and is responsible for executing the efforts for secure system products. Activities include development of Cybersecurity RMF artifacts, security specifications, security architecture, interface descriptions, and vulnerability assessments.

The SSE must be able to work independently and as a member of a team in coordination with engineers in development, integration, test and modeling. The SSE will exhibit a high degree of creativity and ingenuity, and will be responsible for developing advanced systems security guidelines and concepts. The SSE must be able to effectively communicate with internal and external customers, and will be required to brief company and customer teams.

Requirements:

  • Four (4) years technical experience in Systems Engineering architecture, requirements, development, or implementation
  • Experience designing, implementing, testing, or fielding security solutions on embedded products for Department of Defense (DoD) programs.
  • Working knowledge of secure systems technologies, methodologies, risk analysis, policies and guidelines
  • Experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF) Steps 1, 2, 3, and 4 including development of associated documentation
  • Experience with Security controls analysis, tailoring, decomposition, allocation, implementation, and testing
  • Familiarity with Software Assurance methodologies
  • Ability to interact with customers to define: requirements, solutions, trades, costs, implementation, system impacts and effectiveness
  • Experience with commercial-off-the-shelf security technologies and trusted products
  • ACTIVE Secret security clearance
  • DoD 8570.01-M IAT or IASAE Level II or III certification
  • U.S. Citizen, as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Agile methodology or Model Based Systems Engineering
  • Experience in System Integrity or Software Assurance
  • Familiarity with NSA or NIST FIPS-140 – 2 approved cryptographic solutions
  • Experience with direct interaction with customer representatives and external suppliers
  • Experience with certification and accreditation of cryptographic, anti-tamper, and other security-related engineering products/systems
  • Experience with multi-level security solutions
  • Experience with DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF)
  • Background in Software Engineering practices
  • Knowledge of security standards, methods, and policies; risk and threat analysis; technical security safeguards; and operational security measures.
  • Familiarity with Program Protection Plan (PPP) required by DoDI 5000.02 and DoDI 5200.39

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in STEM from an accredited University
  • Advanced degree(s) preferred
