Job Description:

The Technical Support Engineer II is responsible for executing a variety of mechanical fabrication support efforts while collaborating in an integrated team environment with fellow Support Engineers, and internal and external engineering customers. The Technical Support Engineer will work within the mechanical fabrication shop to develop the best methods for implementing builds to meet customer requirements and is responsible for all aspects of the build including material procurement, setup, and equipment control and monitoring, and will be responsible for providing status to the customer. The Technical Support Engineer will report to the Bike Shop Mechanical Fabrication Manager within the Systems Integration & Test Directorate. The candidate will work in a Multi-Program controlled area.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within one (1) year of start date.

Required Education Skills and Experience:

• Typically requires a related University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
• Two (2) years or more applied work experience using lathes, mills, saws, grinder, measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers
• Two (2) years or more experience interpreting mechanical drawings at various stages of development in a professional environment
• Two (2) or more years of previous work experience using of Microsoft Excel, Word, Power-Point, to create graphs, and financial data
• US Citizenship Required

Desired Skills:

• Basic experience in the development and manipulation of computer generated 3D models in Creo, AutoCAD, Solidworks
• Understands and applies Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T) skills
• Will be extremely organized and detail oriented, with a high degree of flexibility
• Will have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Will possess insight to effectively prioritize and execute multiple tasks, simultaneously
• Will be capable of working independently or interface effectively as part of multifaceted, highly skilled and dynamic team
• Motivated self-starter with the ability to use independent judgment and work in a fast paced environment.
• Have a professional level ability to develop and manipulate 3D computer models
• Have extensive experience in mechanical design practices, assembly techniques and fabrication protocols.

The ideal candidate is a motivated hands-on, self-starter who cheerfully accepts work assignments and diligently drives to complete them. They are creative and innovative, possessing coordination, analytical, problem-solving, and extreme attention to detail skills.

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement.
