The RIS Hardware and Infrastructure Engineering (HW&I) team has an opening for a Sr. Principal Infrastructure Architect to drive design and transformation into a modern public cloud infrastructure using agile DevOps tools and processes. The qualified candidate will guide program infrastructure architecture, design, and implementation efforts. They will also serve in a program technical leadership role, supervising implementation activities for cloud-based solutions, including the use of automated resource provisioning and system/application deployment tools, and installation/configuration of CI/CD pipeline release tools and workflows. The position also entails supporting new business initiatives by providing technical input, developing cost estimates, and conducting product trade studies. The selected candidate will also be part of our strategic planning team developing our way forward in the use of public cloud technologies.

Required Skills:

  • Strong understanding across-the-board of infrastructure systems and services including, but not limited to, compute, storage, network, cyber, and virtualization/cloud (private and public)
  • Experience with AWS, including migration of legacy systems
  • Experience managing and minimizing cloud resource costs
  • Experience ensuring as-built systems are compliant with US Government security standards
  • DoD 8570.1 IAT Level I compliance (Security+ CE, CISSP, or other acceptable certification)
  • Experience developing both high-level and low-level requirements-based infrastructure system designs
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and philosophies, including the ability to include these when making architectural and implementation design decisions
  • Proposal development experience, including both cost and technical volumes
  • Experience with Agile development processes using scrum techniques
  • Ability to schedule and lead execution of infrastructure cloud implementation efforts
  • Experience analyzing and improving infrastructure performance
  • Ability to prepare and present status, plans, and risks to management
  • Ability to work with a geographically dispersed engineering team.
  • Some travel required to support customer meetings and site installation (<25%)
  • 10+ years of related experience
  • Must be a US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a US Government TS/SCI Security Clearance or above

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with COTS/FOSS software integration and troubleshooting
  • Linux system administration skills
  • Scripting skills
  • Familiarity with configuration management processes, amd Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts and tools such as Jenkins, Artifactory, Chef, Ansible, Git, BitBucket
  • Knowledge of IAM service implementations, including system integrations with customer or other enterprise security services
  • Project management skills, including Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Familiarity with architecture frameworks and views
  • Enterprise architect certification (DoDAF, ToGAF, etc)
  • Existing US Government TS/SCI Security Clearance or above

Education Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM), or related STEM degree program from an Accredited University/School/College with 10+ years of related work experience
