Job Description:

The Business Infrastructure (BI) Organization within Raytheon BBN Technologies is seeking a full-time Systems Administrator to help support the scientific computing center at BBN’s Cambridge, MA location. Primary responsibilities will include, but not be limited to server installation, configuration, maintenance, and documentation and planning. In addition, the incumbent will need to maintain other IT assets, prepare equipment for reuse or disposal, act as a liaison with the other BI IT personnel, and provide other IT systems support as needed. This position also has a significant focus on responding to user-generated requests for particular hardware, software, and configuration changes.

The ideal candidate will be familiar with Linux operating systems, distributed configuration management tools, effective automation and development techniques, and network equipment and protocols. They should be able to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly and effectively. Flexibility and attention to detail are essential to this teams’ success. BBN's work environment includes classified facilities to perform Government contract work, so an active security clearance, Security+ certification, and a knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF) and/or NIST 800-171 standards are a plus.

Required Skills:

Knowledge of and experience with systems administration practices/procedures as applied to software management and system configuration.

Minimum of 4 experience years with Bachelor's degree

Working knowledge of networking essentials including common ports & protocols, DHCP, DNS, host firewalls, NFS, etc.

Experience in shell scripting or scripting languages such as: bash, python, and perl.

Experience with system configuration tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Salt.

Experience with any of the following Linux applications: LDAP, kickstart, yum, Sun Grid Engine, Apache, MySQL, DRBD, KVM, or T/FTP.

Facility for troubleshooting and solving technical problems.

Ability to perform system builds and upgrades, product installation and maintenance.

Ability to identify and automate routine tasks.

Ability to work in a team environment.

A solid understanding of a LINUX-based operating system and use of performance analysis to tune systems.

Demonstrated organizational and planning skills with a task-oriented mindset.

Desired Skills:

RHCSA or other Linux-based certifications.

CompTIA Security+ certification.

Knowledge of and/or familiarity with NIST 800-53 and NIST 800-171 standards and the Risk Management Framework (RMF).

Experience with Cisco Switches/Routers.

Experience with installing and maintaining databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB.

Working knowledge of a variety of operating systems such as Windows 10, Mac OS X and Linux.

Familiarity with the installation, administration and use of Atlassian software products (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Bit Bucket).

Ability to start and end tasks and projects to completion, with a sense of ownership about work.

Knowledge of Red Hat Identity Manager, FreeIPA, OpenLDAP, Samba, NFS, DNS, Apache Web Servers, and Postfix.

Demonstrated ability to support of a fast-paced set of developers and to balance priorities of multiple tasks.

Required Education:

Active TS highly desired

Minimum of 4 years (6 years if no degree) of experience in Systems Administration

This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.
