The department resides within the RI&S Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC). This opportunity requires significant domain expertise of RF systems and subsystems design / solutions, Active Electronically Scanned Arrays (AESAs) and associated technologies, as well as proven leadership skills to effectively lead multi-disciplinary teams in pursuit and program execution. Our AESA technologies are used for military radar, electronic warfare (EW), and communications systems. The department is responsible for the full-scope of antenna and RF subsystem product solutions, spanning architecture trades, design, development, integration, deployment, and sustainment and associated integrated system verification solutions.

The RF Engineering Fellow will be responsible for leadership in developing and analyzing subsystem architectures that meet mission, cost, and schedule goals. Candidates should be recognized experts in the design and development of state-of-the-art antenna and active electronic scanned arrays and RF subsystems for Radar, EW, communications, and/or other antenna systems across multiple platforms.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 12 years of related RF subsystem hardware design engineering experience
  • Expertise with antenna theory/applications; receiver/exciter technologies; RF subsystem architectures and analysis
  • Proficiency with RF system and AESA power and control subsystems
  • Experience in RF system integration and characterization
  • Demonstrated proficiency in providing technical direction
  • Demonstration proficiency in providing technical mentoring
  • Experience writing proposals including developing a technical solution, identifying risks and opportunities, and writing both technical and cost volumes
  • Excellent verbal and technical writing / presentation skills; requires an executive presence
  • Requires occasional business travel
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance within one year of start date; Active clearance is preferred.

Desired Skills:

  • Proficiency with RF subsystem integration and calibration
  • Proficiency with AESA integration and calibration
  • Experience managing technical teams and tracking costs and budgets
  • Experience with functional management of engineers

Required Education : Bachelor's Degree in a related STEM discipline; Advanced degrees are strongly preferred.
