Overview:

Electrical Products is seeking a Digital Hardware & FPGA Design Engineer. The Digital Hardware & FPGA Design Engineer will report to the Receiver Exciter and Signal Processing (RESP) Department, supporting the Multi-Function RF System (MFRFS) product line located in McKinney, Texas.

Job Summary:

The Digital Hardware & FPGA Design Engineer job responsibilities include deriving unit and module level requirements from system level requirements, developing associated architectures, implementing design, performing analysis and testing of the FPGA, module, and/or unit in a laboratory setting. He/she will be familiar with latest technology trends in the area of microprocessor, memory, FPGA and interface protocols. The Digital Hardware & FPGA Design Engineer must be experienced in all aspects of circuit card and FPGA design from concept through delivery to higher-level assemblies as evidenced by multiple successful design completions (including hardware designs with processors, FPGAs, memory, and industry standard interfaces). The role of Digital Hardware & FPGA Design Engineer requires cross-functional collaboration with mechanical, electrical, systems, and embedded software engineering teams.

This position will require the ability to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only US Citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Required Skills:

• 8+ years applicable experience required
• Strong technical background in board design & FPGA design
• Experience creating circuit card schematics that contain microprocessors, FPGAs, high-speed transceivers, DDR and flash memories
• Experience developing block diagrams, parts lists, and design review packages for complex electronics
• Experience in digital design and VHDL or Verilog code development, simulation, and place & route
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret security clearance

This position will require the ability to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only US Citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Required Education:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

Desired Skills:

• Experience in task management or other lead role on a large development program
• Experience with Mentor xDX Designer to create schematics
• Experience with interfaces and bus standards such as: VME, PCI, PCIe, VPX, and Gb Ethernet
• Experience with Intel/Altera, Xilinx, and/or Microsemi FPGAs
• Expertise in FPGA radar processing techniques
• Strong problem solving skills with ability to proactively identify alternate solutions to overcome difficult technical challenges
• Active secret security clearance
