Job Summary

The Mission Systems Capture Center seeks a Sr. Capture Manager to be a key member of our Pursuit and Order Capture (P/OC) efforts. The Sr. Capture Manager will work closely with Pursuit Teams and facilitate the development of a capture plan for Collins Aerospace’s efforts in pursuit of new opportunities. This individual will be an integral part of a Capture Team pursuing major/strategic opportunities. The Capture Manager works with pursuit teams by challenging the team in our understanding of the customer and the competition in order to assist in developing strategies/actions that increase our win probability. The Capture Manager must have good team building skills, good communication skills, as well as strong understanding of the P/OC process and the customer’s acquisition process. The Sr Capture Manager will mentor members of the Capture Center in addition to members of the Capture Team in all areas of the PO/C process. Background in the Shipley proposal process is strongly desired. 

The Capture Center is composed of capture managers, proposal managers, and graphic designers; together this organization is responsible for flawlessly leading teams through the P/OC process to win business.

Job Necessities

  • Thorough understanding of the business development lifecycle and hands-on experience working within the pursuit and order capture process in support of major/strategic pursuits
  • Proven skills strategy development, organizational skills and communications
  • Results-driven leader with a record of motivating and energizing teams to successfully accomplish organizational goals
  • Strong and successful background in the capture of competitive pursuits
  • Understanding of government acquisition process and exposure to domestic and international acquisition strategies and methodologies

Position Responsibilities

  • Drive the capture team at each step in the pursuit and order capture process to apply critical thinking in the development of customer most important requirements, strategies, themes, discriminators, and other capture plan materials.
  • Leverage personal acquisition experience to be a key member of the Capture Team for large, complex, and/or strategic pursuits
  • Challenge the capture team when they are off-course; drive and ensure the necessary course corrections are implemented at the team and individual level to avoid re-work.
  • Coach the capture team, and members of the Capture Center, on the capture process and facilitate price to win, Black Hat reviews, and interim reviews efforts. 
  • Conduct frequent in-process pursuit reviews for responsiveness, compliance, argument coherence, and claim substantiation and coach Capture Team with structured feedback to drive improvements.
  • Drive the development of best practices and lessons learned to continuously improve the pursuit and order capture process.
  • Coordinate with other Capture Center of Excellence departments (i.e., Competitive Intelligence, Proposal Managers, Graphics, Training) and administrative staff to ensure complete capture plan flows into the development of winning proposals.

Basic Qualifications

Master's degree in appropriate discipline, preferably technical and/or business, or in the absence of a degree ten years of related experience.

  • Minimal travel to support pursuit efforts in various locations is required
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance is required
  • U.S. citizenship is required
  • Knowledge of government proposals and contracting is desired
