The successful candidate will manage, evaluate and work radiation effects engineering efforts on space and airborne programs: Radiation Hardness Assurance Plans, radiation and survivability analyses, and PMPCB presentations, APMPLs, RFAs, PMP Control Plans.

The section manager will work with IPTs, cross-functional support, supporting program reviews, etc. The section manager will be responsible for managing approximately 15-20 employees.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a high degree of ingenuity, creativity and resourcefulness in managing radiation effects and hardness assurance technical parts, materials, and process (PMP) work-products for space programs. The SM is viewed as a Subject Matter Expert for all matters related to Parts Engineering and Radiation Effects. The SM will be versed in RCCC, SBT Bidding Tool, EVMS, and will need to manage and drive effective bidding and proposal of all department work-products. The SM will work cross-functionally to resolve PMP issues and accomplish program objectives. The SM will develop the staff and execute career development, performance development, guidance and mentoring.

The SM will be expected to challenge IPTLs and Program office when short cuts or risky approaches are being considered when industry experience in space arena supports alternative positions

Required Skills

  • 10 years of engineering experience
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross functionally
  • Demonstrated skills with Infrastructure improvement tools
  • Must have technical depth to present papers at technical conferences.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

Desired Skills

  • Prior functional management experience
  • Raytheon Space Systems or Hi-Rel Program experience
  • Prior IPTL or program management experience
  • Prior experience as a Space parts manager or Radiation Effects Subject matter expert
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross functionally
  • In-depth knowledge of Component Engineering, Space Parts Management, Radiation Effects, Space Systems Engineering
  • Demonstrated ability developing employees
  • EVMS certification desired

Required Education: B.S. In Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline (M.S. preferred)
