DESCRIPTION

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

This role will be focused on increasing Kuiper Satellite production rate through test systems software automation, change control and operational excellence. To deliver these complex solutions, you will partner with peers across all Kuiper teams, including hardware, software, manufacturing, quality, launch, test etc.

Key job responsibilities

The Sr Technical Program Manager for Production Test Software's role is key to Kuiper's ability to increase satellite production rate. Change in test system software is a necessity for Kuiper to continuously improve our satellite function, expand test coverage during production and increase test execution automation.

In your role, you will create and manage a lean software change control and deployment process, drive test system automation projects and lead game days to ensure availability of test systems is uninterrupted throughout the evolution of Kuiper production test systems design. Your experience in software development and deployment will help you create efficient mechanisms allowing many engineering teams to improve Kuiper satellite production test systems.

A day in the life

This role will be highly collaborative, requiring partnerships with cross-functional leaders to drive positive results. This role requires ability to advocate on behalf of our customers (internal and external) and an ability to push back without being adversarial.

You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations. You should be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and relish the idea of solving problems that haven't been solved at scale before. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent
  • 6+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
  • 3+ years experience in software development/networking technology development to drive automation
  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Experience owning cross-functional program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership (up to VP level)
  • Experience with software change control and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience running game days in preparation for large deployments

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
  • Masters degree in engineering (aerospace, aviation, computer science, electrical, electronics)
  • Experience in test engineering and/or working in aerospace or aviation industry
  • Experience leading an operational team or organization to increase throughput and/or drive operational excellence
  • Ability to regularly engage with senior stake holders and influence across the organization.
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with ability to work successfully across all engineering disciplines.
  • High sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $119,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
