As a Barclays Regulatory Lawyer, you will help Barclays Bank Ireland PLC (BE) with regulation affecting its businesses. This is an opportunity for you to ensure updates of the regulatory change agenda are provided to key stakeholders and you will be the key point of contact in relation to regulatory change and related. In your role, you will be working closely with the Regulatory implementation team to guarantee flow of information, mutual support for multiple impacted entities, consistency of approach and responses to regulatory changes.

What will you be doing?

  • Leading legal risk management of regulatory change and implementation matters affecting BE businesses, such as, EU Taxonomy and Bank Resolution and Recovery
  • Acting as a partner and advisor on trading, structuring, distribution, and other infrastructure partners on the legal, regulatory, and reputational impact of regulatory change 
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders as part of the creation and execution of Barclays Europe’ regulatory implementation strategy and country coverage for Ireland
  • Working closely with country coverage lawyers in BE and product coverage lawyers within BI to ensure consistent approach to regulatory change and implementation
  • Instructing and managing Barclays’ relationship with external counsel across multiple jurisdictions, reviewing advice and legal opinions and liaising with internal stakeholders
  • Participating in Barclays’ industry advocacy efforts in relation to the ongoing rulemaking process in the EU and monitoring legislative developments closely 
  • Representing Barclays in dialogue with regulatory and supervisory bodies and industry associations
  • Helping to deliver team and departmental objectives, participating in the development of processes, policies and procedures and preparing and delivering training and presentations

What we’re looking for:

  • Qualified lawyer (Irish preferable, will consider EU) with significant knowledge and experience in a regulatory role
  • Excellent stakeholder management/business partnering skills

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Knowledge/experience of ESG would be beneficial
  • Prioritises and manages workload effectively
  • Able to clearly identifies legal and commercial risks 
  • Being able to communicates highly technical qualitative analysis and advice in a clear and concise manner to a legal and non-legal audience, both orally and in writing

You will be based in our new flagship office, One Molesworth Street, which is in the heart of Dublin city centre.
