Position Summary:

The Website Developer is a part of the Web Marketing team and is responsible and accountable for analyzing, developing and building new features and functionality in support of our public-facing school websites. This position works with other members of the web development team to provide full stack development capabilities, web content management system maintenance and production support, mobile first optimization, testing & QA, and site performance optimization. This position will also assist in monitoring site uptime and lead form processing. The team overall is responsible for design, development, and maintenance of various websites, with a specific emphasis on usability, performance, and scalability. A desire to solve old problems in new ways and think in terms of scalability, efficiency, and practicality are a must. We are looking for an inspired, mission-driven software developer, who can break down the world into objects and classes.

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain public-facing websites utilizing content management systems (CMS).

Develop and maintain several custom cloud-based services and applications hosted in Microsoft Azure.

Develop solutions that adhere to industry best practices and company coding standards.

Participate in design and architecture of new functionality to meet business requirements.

Recommend and implement full stack solutions as needed by studying existing technology architecture; analyze browser compatibility techniques; evaluate solution alternatives; develop prototypes; and write detailed technical requirements.

Recommend and evaluate new technologies that may be incorporated into future releases of the product.

Provide general technical production support of website environments and cloud-based infrastructure.

Triage and develop fixes for bugs found during quality assurance testing.

Continuous improvement and monitoring of website/database performance including page load times and Google PageSpeed scores.

Implement functionality to enable conversion optimization tests and content personalization within the website architecture.

Collaborate with UX and software development counterparts in the organization to align with other development projects and initiatives.

Participate in team agile ceremonies such as daily standups, refinement, and planning.

Perform quality assurance self-checks and troubleshoot issues prior to release in testing and production environments to ensure code quality and integrity.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree required – preferably in Computer Science or related field, with 3-5 years of experience in a high-tech environment.
  • Proficiency using C# and .NET technologies such as Web API, MVC, and Web Forms.
  • A working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Knowledge of JavaScript SPA frameworks such as Angular or KnockoutJS are a plus.
  • Expertise writing and maintaining unit tests and automated UI tests.
  • Ability to design well-structured relational SQL databases.
  • Ability to collaborate with other developers and conduct code reviews.
  • Experience leveraging source control using a system such as Git or TFS.
  • Experience integrating 3rd party components and services.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure for hosting App Services and SQL databases is a plus.
  • Experience administering web content management systems. DNN or WordPress experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and requests.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative, face-paced, cross-functional team environment.
  • Experience working in a highly virtual work environment.
