Position Description

As the staff product manager, you are the core member of the product leadership team. You will develop a customer-centric product strategy and product roadmap specific to Alibaba.com US market. You will own the product concept development, business case justification, product strategy, investment roadmap, and business requirements document deliverables. You will partner closely with the global product development team to build a global scalable product platform with flexible local customization capabilities and local unique product features. As the staff product manager, you will also manage the product launch, product go-to-market strategy, post launch critical issue resolution and post mortem analysis for continuous improvement.

In strong partnership with global product development team, you will also have the opportunity to help shape Alibaba.com’s global product strategy and execution plan and make a significant global business impact and global community impact. You are highly analytical, business savvy, resourceful, and restlessly curious. You are comfortable with thinking big, diving deep and have a passion for using data to drive business decisions, diving below the surface to identify the root cause and the “so what”. You appreciate working in a team comprised of people of diverse geographical and cultural backgrounds. You are at ease in working in a complex and fast-moving environment including shifting priorities with evolving customer and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

 Perform market opportunity analysis including market size analysis, industry trend and leading innovations, ecosystem analysis, customer segmentation and targeting, voice of customers, opportunities prioritization and competitive benchmarking.

 Define overall product vision, strategy and investment framework, including foundation layer, differentiation layer and disruption layer. Make “build, partner or purchase” recommendation.

 Design the desirable customer experience and build multi-phases product roadmap. Deliver detailed business requirements document (BRD) for the next phase product launch. Build the business case justification and secure leadership support.

 Partner with global product development team on the customer experience and user interface design, product requirements document (PRD), product design local customer validation before product development execution. Improve global product’s local customer relevancy.

 Develop product launch plan and go-to-market strategy to drive customer adoption, including product value proposition, marketing collateral, customer education, customer incentives, customer services enablement and product performance management, etc.

Job requirements

Basic Qualifications

 8+ years of proven track record of product management or product development. eCommerce or supply chain management experience are strongly preferred.

 Ability to think big with disruptive innovation ideas and have strong drive for execution and delivering solid business results on time. Comfortable with making business tradeoff and prioritization decisions.

 Strong customer obsession and attention to customer experience details. Willing to roll up sleeves and dive into details to uncover root causes and address low hanging fruit for quick-win opportunities.

 Strong influencing skill powered by deep customer and business insight. Ability to articulate complex concepts to different cross functional audiences at different levels.

 Strong interpersonal skill with the ability to drive organizational alignment between the global product development team and local business team. Good culture diversity and inclusivity mindset.

 Analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and manage ongoing product performance improvement.

 Self-motivated individual with demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to new business and technology changes, and learn quickly to make a customer and business impact.

 Ability to travel for internal and external stakeholders connections.

 Bachelor degree in engineering, business, economics, computer science, or related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

 B2C or B2B eCommerce experience. Local and global supply chain management experience.

 Business procurement process and ERP system knowledge.

 Professional experience in architecting and operating solutions through APIs integration.

 SQL skills to assist in deep dive root cause data analysis.

 Master degree in Business Administration.

 Experience in hiring and developing team.

 Mandarin Chinese is a plus.
