We are looking for a Structural Test Engineer to join the Systems Test Team and support the Structure Integrated Product Team (IPT). You will design and analyze test fixtures for the development, production and certification testing of Wisk Generation 6 Aircraft Structural components.

Why we need you:

  • You will develop test fixtures for component level tests, such as ailerons and booms, up to full aircraft structure fatigue tests. You will be responsible for creating test fixtures from concept to fully operational setup, developing and executing test procedures and providing feedback to the design team. The successful candidate will be proactive, self-motivated, hands-on and a driver for best safety practices.

What you will do:

  • Lead the development and implementation of structural component and aircraft level test campaigns, including static, dynamic and fatigue testing
  • Work closely with a cross functional team to develop test requirements and test plans
  • Write test specification, operation manual and test procedures
  • Design and analyze mechanical fixture assemblies
  • Conduct Design Reviews 
  • Create 3D CAD models and release 2D mechanical design drawings using NX
  • Create, run and post process basic analysis simulations
  • Perform analysis using first principle techniques to validate mechanical, model response and thermal aspects of the design
  • Make design considerations for structural integrity, thermal consideration, and safety
  • Select and integrate transducers and data acquisition devices into test setups
  • Source and coordinate external suppliers and labs
  • Support procurement and assembly of the test fixtures
  • Ensure and improve safety protocols

What you have done:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience testing composite structure
  • Advanced understanding of Mechanical Engineering fundamentals (statics, dynamics, structural mechanics, etc.)
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as Siemens NX (preferred) or Solidworks.
  • Proficiency with FEM software FEMAP/Nastran (preferred) or Hypermesh/Optistruct
  • Familiar with drafting standards, including GD&T, and can interpret or create engineering drawings
  • Experience with data acquisition devices and sensors (accelerometers, strain gage etc..)
  • Hands-on experience supporting manufacture and assembly, including disposition of hardware non-conformances.
  • Experience working with machine shops and fabricators
  • Experience designing large assemblies and overseeing system installations

Desired:

  • Experience interacting with complex integrated systems 
  • Familiarity with aircraft certification and aerospace development best practices and standards
  • Familiarity with aerospace fasteners and best practices 
  • Experience with hand tools, machine shop tools (Mill, Drill, Chop Saw)
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup environment
