The Sr Principal Software Architect is a key technical leadership position within Cymer Light Source D&E, charged with leading interpretation of complex inter-system controls/software requirements and identifying feasible design solutions to support legacy and next-generation DUV Excimer Light Source product development. This role is central in the creation of a strategic hardware/software technology roadmap and in maturing new concepts for productization. Architects are internal technical subject matter experts with added skills in synthesizing, clearly communicating, and comprehending system & sub-system interdependencies using cross-functional knowledge. The role requires safeguarding the architectural integrity, the ability to lead and influence the technical direction, and communicating technical risks. 

Role and responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of control system hardware and software solutions for legacy fleet and next generation DUV light sources.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software architecture requirements.
  • Architect scalable and robust software systems to meet industry and Cymer standards.
  • Collaborate with other Architects and Lead Technologists to produce an aligned and unified DUV Technology Roadmap.
  • Provide technical leadership in software development projects, ensuring best practices and innovation.
  • Conduct code reviews and mentor software development teams.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend their adoption when applicable.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s or high degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience and knowledge of Computer Architecture concepts such as microprocessor architecture, memory systems, on-chip interconnection networks, hardware/software partitioning, RTOS, etc.
  • Programming in C or C++ with knowledge of mapping hardware algorithms to efficient C/C++ code. 12+ years of prior experience in defining and delivering multiple high performance SW/Control-architectures into production, with focus on architecture design-requirements and performance analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field.
  • Domain knowledge in one or more of power/performance tradeoffs, digital signal processing, ML networks, ML frameworks such as Pytorch.

Skills

  • Well-organized and -executed strategic planning are requisite for this role in order to ensure products meet the requirements for performance, reliability, and time-to-market.
  • It is critical that the Architect be able to inform the DUV Light source product roadmap, drawing on insights drawn from deep understanding of the DUV Excimer laser system architecture as well as the landscape and trends in capital equipment architectures.
  • Deep technical understanding of our hardware architecture, communication latency modeling and analysis are necessary to make informed, data-driven decisions. 
  • Ability to understand and solve problems leveraging architecture optimization spanning algorithm implementation to RTOS deployment on multicore CPU and custom FPGA implementations.
  • Architect must have demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence effectively in a large organization spanning multiple teams of hardware, software, algorithms and systems engineers and stakeholders.

The current base annual salary range for this role is currently $194,625-$324,375. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
