About Rippling

Rippling is the first way for businesses to manage their HR & IT — from payroll and benefits, to employee computers and apps — all in one, modern system.

In just 90-seconds, a company can set up (or disable) an employee’s payroll, health insurance, work computer, and third-party apps, like Gmail, Microsoft Office, and Slack. It’s the only platform that truly unifies every employee system, and automates all of the administrative work.

Rippling is HQ in San Francisco and has raised $60M in Series A funding from top-tier investors, including Kleiner Perkins, Initialized, DFJ, and Y Combinator.

About The Role

Research plays a critical role in this by ensuring the product is intuitive and efficient, helping free up smart people to work on hard problems for their organizations rather than the busy work that often comes with their job. We hold our experience to a higher standard than others in the industry and it’s a key differentiator for us. The user experience is critical in building trust with our customers, so they can feel confident that important aspects of their business run without fail for their employees. As researchers, you’re responsible for uncovering problems employees experience every day and guiding us in building great solutions that solve them.

We’re looking for user researchers who are passionate about helping businesses, and their employees, succeed in their missions by helping them run more effectively. This will be Rippling’s first research hire and they will work directly with the VP of Design to establish processes to gather qualitative feedback and make it actionable for the teams.

What You'll Do:

  • Research businesses to understand how they are using the Rippling product/platform.
  • Design studies that address both user behavior and attitudes.
  • Generate insights that both fuel ideation and evaluate designs.
  • Conduct research using a wide variety of qualitative methods, subset of quantitative methods (i.e. surveys), and interpret analysis through the lens of UX, HCI, and social science.
  • Work cross-functionally with product design, product management, customer service, sales, engineering, product marketing and businesses using the platform.
  • Partner with engineers, analysts, and other technical roles to create and share research.
  • Adapt and lead research practices to meet team needs under the tight time frames of a rapidly growing company.
  • Synthesize and communicate research findings to inform business decisions and build even greater empathy for our customers.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional work experience in applied product research.
  • B.A/B.S. in Anthropology, Psychology, Social Science or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience conducting B2B research.
  • Command of a set of qualitative and user-centered design methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and conduct research in close collaboration with people in a variety of roles, including design, engineering, and product management.
  • Knowledge of quantitative, behavioral analysis, and statistical concepts.
  • Experience with survey research (questionnaire design, sampling, analysis).
  • Ability to ask, as well as answer, meaningful and impactful questions.
  • The drive to explore and define research opportunities throughout the company.
  • Ability to clearly, concisely, and persuasively communicate your findings, verbally and in writing.
