The Biostatistics Program within the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center’s Division of Public Health Sciences is recruiting a Statistical Research Associate (SRA). The SRA will engage in collaborative research with areas focused on disease risk prediction and novel biomarker evaluations, and will (obtain and) utilize a working knowledge of cancer active surveillance. The SRA will have opportunities to participate in large collaborative projects. 

This position offers some flexibility in hours with the expectation that the SRA works a minimum of 4 weekdays on-campus during normal business hours.


  • Work with PhD statisticians and other scientists (including clinicians and basic scientists) in the analysis, interpretation and reporting of results
  • Develop analytic data sets, develop data quality assurance plans, conduct statistical analyses, and document data sets and analytic programs
  • Monitor on-going studies and write detailed statistical analysis, plan and perform interim and final analysis
  • Provide statistical consultation


  • Master’s degree in statistics or biostatistics and at least 1 year of related experience
  • Strong programming skills, including using SAS and R package
  • Proficiency in statistical computing and in the development of statistical programs
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work well individually and as a team with a diverse group of investigators and researchers across disciplines
