The Center for Food Innovation (CFI) is the dedicated center for Research & Development (R&D) for TTH and is responsible for the development of food ingredients, cost-effective production processes and solutions for our customers. 

We are looking for a Managing Senior Scientist Strain Development and Screening to join the “Enzyme House” of the Center for Food Innovation.

As a Managing Senior Scientist Screening and Strain Development you will join the Enzyme House management team and combine the role of line manager and scientist.

As line manager, you lead a team of >10 specialists (scientists and technicians) in enzyme strain engineering. You support the R&D manager Enzymes in developing and executing the R&D portfolio and technology strategy for enzymes, with a focus on screening and strain development.

As scientist screening and strain development, you are the technical lead for enzyme screening and strain development in a multidisciplinary project team: you will leverage your know-how in strain engineering to optimize enzyme expression in our production strains, fitting the requirements of the business segments.

  • Effective allocation & planning of the resources in the team in alignment with project management.
  • Enabling your team to efficiently reach (project) results.
  • Be the coaching and inspirational people manager for your Team, responsible for all HR and Quality, Environment, Safety & Health (QESH) aspects of your team.
  • Developing and Executing the R&D portfolio and technology strategy for enzymes together the Enzyme House management team.
  • Shaping projects and opportunities together with our business partners and translate project goals into workplans for enzyme strain development and screening.
  • Development of efficient production strains, fitting the requirements of the Ingredient Solutions business segments.
  • Interpreting, analyzing, and reporting the results of experiments to team members and customers in meetings and reports.

  • Competitive Reward: Based on your experience we will offer you a base salary of € 76,594 to € 125,562 per year (including holiday allowance and 13th month) and extra benefits, such as 25 holiday days, a bonus, the option to buy more holiday days with a 6% my choice budget and much more. Please be aware that the salary may vary based on your experience. 

You Bring: 

  • PhD or equivalent experience in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology and/or Microbiology.
  • Expertise on enzyme expression and/or strain engineering (yeast, bacterial and/or filamentous fungal)
  • >5 years of working experience in life sciences business, within an R&D and/or innovation environment.
  • Experience with project- and/or people management.
  • Strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, helicopter view.
  • A strong sense of accountability and a preference for high demanding and complex environment.
  • Affinity with business needs in the area of Food & Beverages, and the ability to translate this into priority setting for your team.
  • Fluency in English.
