Mexico is regarded as one of AIG’s most complex and dynamic tax jurisdictions - undergoing tax reforms on an annual basis with regular tax authority query and interaction. The Tax function is one of more important back-office area of the company which main role is manage accurate and efficient tax information and planning and ensure compliance with tax laws for the company or client as well as risk mitigation.

The tax management is then in charge of ensuring that the organization is kept up-to-date on everything related to taxes, both with the corresponding payments and with the tax reforms. In addition to support in the expansion process providing support, expertise, and partnership to business areas.

About the role

What you need to know:

The primary purpose of the job is to prepare and to review federal, state, and international tax compliance for functional business units, to prepare/review the reconciliation process of tax accounts, to attend US GAAP reporting queries from Indian Finance Center, tax analytics and budget of tax payments. This role would suit an individual within solid knowledge and relevant experience of the Mexico tax regime.

Your contribution at AIG

The employee will provide support to the Tax Manager about technical questions from the business, electronic invoicing and to prepare the information required for US GAAP reporting (e.g. tax payment analysis).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To calculate and to prepare federal taxes (ISR, VAT and withholding taxes) by ensuring submission of statutory tax returns and informative statements in an accurate and timely manner.
  • To prepare the monthly informative returns (DIOT).
  • To prepare budget for monthly tax obligations.
  • To prepare the monthly tax accrual provision including Tax Inflation adjustment.
  • To prepare the compliance of indirect taxes in Texas and New México.
  • To prepare the working papers for Income Tax and annual informative returns as well as for the presentation of declarations (DIM, DISIF).
  • To prepare and review monthly reconciliations of tax accounts, quarterly analytical data, and quarterly US GAAP queries (tax payments analysis).
  • To support the attention of requirements by the Tax Authority.
  • To ensure best practices/policies and consistent procedures are applied in the country.

  • Solid accounting knowledge with local tax experience.
  • Bring best practices, policies, and procedures to the organization.
  • Flexible self-starter with strong organization skills showing attention to detail.
  • Responsive to time pressure and ability to work to agreed deadlines and objectives.
  • Able to identify, assess and communicate relevant issues on a timely basis.
  • Strong customer service skills.

What we’re looking for:

  • Good level of Mexican tax experience in the Insurance industry or financial services.
  • Spanish and intermediate English level – writing and reading (no mandatory).
  • Certified public accountant.
  • Experience: 2 years in similar positions.
