Product Marketing Manager, Competitive Intelligence

In 2018, worldwide spending on CRM software grew 16% to reach $42B. At the same time, CRM software represented 25% of enterprise application spend. The CRM space is one of the hottest spaces to work at today! With the landscape in the CRM world as competitive as ever, the business is looking to our Competitive Intelligence team here at Zendesk to increasingly influence the strategic direction of the company and product.

In this significant role, you will become enriched with deep subject matter expertise in not only our competition, but also the markets we serve. What the day to day looks like:

  • Conduct ongoing in-depth research on competitor go-to-market strategy and product capabilities by leveraging a number of different sources including win/loss reports, secondary research (analyst reports, webinars, PR, etc.), and publicly available information
  • Develop a regular cadence of company-wide briefings and department specific updates (Company all hands, Product Summits, C-staff meetings, Sales Kickoff, Sales & Success Training) to instill awareness
  • Support field teams with global training problems in partnership with Sales Enablement, scalable self serve competitive assets (internal and external facing). Provide high touch support on sales deals and in competitive situations with customers (present to prospects and customers if needed)
  • Publish ongoing updates on market conditions to track company progress and periodically validate the total addressable market sizing for specific go-to-market verticals or use-cases
  • Work with Product, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Legal to analyze the financial impact of pricing new features or SKUs


  • 3+ years of competitive, market intelligence, sales, and/or pre-sales experience.
  • Experience in a highly competitive space, and ideally B2B software
  • Experience driving strategic programs across the business
  • Experience in the CRM/Customer Engagement space (Salesforce automation, Marketing Automation, Customer Service)

Nice to haves:

  • Hands on experience in executing analysis using one or more of the following technologies: SQL, Tableau or another BI tool
  • Experience in market research and quantitative analysis, including building models and scenario planning
  • Solid understanding of enterprise software or SaaS economics; comfortable reviewing a 10-K or S-1 to extract insights
  • Familiarity and experience with competitive analysis, and communicating to a diverse audience of stakeholders
