Under the supervision of the Supervisor Site Facilities - Assembles, installs, tests, and generally maintains equipment. Maintenance Mechanics will perform maintenance on any equipment assigned and will perform maintenance activities in other areas in support of the West Chester CREWS Facilities based on business needs. Work assignments, buildings, and equipment are not exclusive to any position or employee within the department. Position will include some responsibility for maintaining significant business systems (e.g., BAS, eMaint MMS, planning, procurement, and scheduling) including the authority to assign, coordinate, and maintain work for others. Performs all work within guidelines of our Company and Established Code requirements. Write, execute, and complete safety permits. Attend and actively participates in HAZOPS, HAZWOPER, Equipment operation training, safety or environmental training/initiatives, as required. Understand, write and utilize hazardous energy control (lockout/tagout) procedures.

Key Accountabilities

• Completes installations, troubleshooting, maintenance, calibration repairs/overhauls, and operates HVAC & R systems
• Performs preventive and corrective maintenance and emergency repairs as required by the equipment and systems
• Ensures compliance with CFC-related regulations and qualifications
• Ensures the proper housekeeping conditions are maintained in mechanical rooms via proper storage of equipment and supplies. Performs miscellaneous clean up as necessary
• Operates computer workstations for monitoring and operational status of equipment and systems where applicable.
• Maintains logs, necessary paperwork, and completes documentation as required. Documents work activities completely through PM or CM work orders and electronic daily labor record. Works from work orders and PM checklists
• Minimal Plumbing, Carpentry, Painting and patching General Facility Maintenance and Upkeep
• Performs load surveys and necessary tests as required. Takes appropriate corrective action
• Maintains and services all electrical equipment
• Works on energized, equipment (when necessary) using OSHA approved safety equipment and guidelines
• Works with voltage and current of any level, AC or DC after completion of appropriate training

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
• Universal Refrigerant Certification
• Graduation from a recognized/accredited HVAC/Refrigeration trade school or community college or equivalent programs with at least six (6) months full-time emphasis (5 hrs/day x 5 days/wk), in air conditioning, refrigeration, electricity, and associated controls
• At least three (3) years of the last five (5) years full-time experience (6,000 hours) as a Facilities Maintenance Mechanic working on HVAC/R equipment or equivalent electrical experience on Distribution
• Graduation from a recognized/accredited trade school with at least six months full time emphasis (5 hours/day x 3 days/week) in industrial power plant or HVAC and refrigeration equipment operations

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Completion of a formal Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic Apprentice Program that is approved by the United States Department of Labor or equivalent
• Three years recent (within the last 7 years) full-time military experience maintaining and troubleshooting refrigeration and air conditioning equipment and associated controls
• Recent experience operating centrifugal chillers (electrical) greater than 600 tons, Dual Fuel Boilers greater than 6 million btu’s, air compressors, cooling towers. Operational and hands-on experience in the emergency/building electrical generators. Graduation from a recognized electrician trade school OR Completion of a formal electrician apprentice program. Desirable: Course in electronics
