About the Position

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for working with our IT Systems team to deliver a highly-available fault-tolerant network infrastructure. The team supports routers, switches, wireless, firewalls, load balancers and power infrastructure. The team handles the full lifecycle of the network from design, procurement, deployment, support and maintenance.

The Senior Network Engineer will work directly with Engineering, Development, Systems and Service Desk teams to ensure maximum uptime regarding all communication infrastructure spanning multiple office locations across the globe including environments in AWS and Azure. This role will also be critical in the evolution of transforming our legacy networks into next-generation, automated, and self-healing networks.

Position Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical escalation point for troubleshooting and operations issues.
  • Work closely with both networking team members and outside parties to perform cross team troubleshooting and planning.
  • Understand how the network components interact with the other parts and pieces of the infrastructure.
  • Work closely with the IT Systems team to engineer solutions and advocate the capabilities of the existing network.
  • Consistently review the production environment to identify potential issues and plan for resolution.
  • Work with Network Engineers to enhance and optimize our existing network.
  • Responsible for the operational support of the deployed network, including creating and enhancing network automation.
  • Works with management and team members to create and enhance processes and procedures.
  • Work with Management and Project Management to determine level of effort and scope of work details for projects and tasks.
  • Create and deliver formal and informal training to engineers and administrators.
  • Work closely with 3rd parties to support outsourced projects.
  • Work closely with program management to ensure projects are completed on time and have all tasks finished.
  • Evening/Weekend on-call duty rotation
  • Participates in problem resolution efforts.
  • Other duties and projects assigned

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience with WatchGuard Technologies products a plus
  • Network software, security and appliances (Cisco/Brocade, Juniper routers, firewalls, F5 LTM, intrusion detection, etc.)
  • HA (high availability) and scalable network and system architectures
  • Site-to-Site VPNs between on-premise locations, Azure, AWS
  • Azure and AWS internal networking technologies
  • VMWare networking technologies
  • Thorough knowledge of networking essentials
  • Knowledge of QoS, multi-cast and load-balancing techniques
  • Routing protocols: BGP, RIP, OSPF
  • TCP/IP Networking
  • Network Management tools (Solarwinds)
  • Familiarity with Icinga/Nagios and ELK
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot complex multi-vendor network issues (WAN, LAN)
  • Proven ability to create network automation using Python, Bash, YAML, or similar


  • 4-6 years of experience
  • 3+ years working in Azure and/or AWS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience providing over-the-phone troubleshooting
